Is there a way you can monitor the wifi frequencie(s) for signals? It would help for lining up external antennas.

Spectrum analyser?! Oof! While we're burning money, why
don't we give her a curative galvanic belt too.

-pinched and modified from the simpsons. Seems appropriate

Remember we are talking about Linuxsys - like donuts, is there nothing it can't do?

Please put me straight if I am wrong, but I'm certain that netstumbler wont work on a router like the wrt54gs. It works fine on my pda - an axim x30, and on my usb card, but not on my wrt54gs with the big antenna thingy.

No you are correct. I just put my laptop about 20 meters from the wrt54g and check the signal via VNC as I position the antennas.

If you have the sveasoft firmware you can do a site survey with this:

telnet to router and type this:

    wl ap 0
    wl scan
    wl scanresults
