is SNMP being considering to be added to the HyperWRT code, via it be on tofu or thibor?
I'd like to see this also as I really could do with a way of monitoring internet only traffic.
it's an open source project guys, you're more than welcome to implement this yourselves and we'll include it in the main releases
Well I wouldn't have a clue how to start building things into the firmware, however after reading this thread on the HyperWRT forums it appears we can download the snmpd binary to the router and run it by doing the following:
Telnet into your router and change to the temporary directory...
Now download the snmpd binary and config file direct to the router using wget...
Now we need to make the snmpd binary executable...
chmod +x ./snmpd
The snmp daemon can now be run using the command...
/tmp/snmpd -c /tmp/snmpd.conf
Now, what I would like is to be able to have the binary download and run automatically after a reboot. Making slight changes to another script I found, I was wondering if the following startup script would do the trick...
for i in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10;
chmod +x /tmp/snmpd
( /tmp/snmpd -c /tmp/snmpd.conf & ) &
In theory it should make 10 attempts at 10 second intervals after a reboot to download and run snmpd... Correct?
well, what i was hoping to see is net-snmp build in. unfortunatly, i have tried to implement this myself, and failed miserably. was hoping someone was working it. guess i can try again when i finish dealing with my projects for my job.
