Hi, I'm looking for a software to connect my WMP11 to AP by mac address instead of SSID..Is there a software like that???

In fact there is - and its already built in:

(those more knowledgeable on the standard, please correct me)

there are SSID (Service Set Identifier), ESSID(Extended SSID), and BSSID(Basic SSID).

The SSID would include the name of your AP, and ESSID is an extended version of that.

The BSSID is the MAC address of the device.

In most cases, devices allow you to connect as long as you know one or the other. you should be able to provide the BSSID of the AP in the SSID connect to field of the WMP.

Thanks. The thing is that.. I can receive 4-5 linksys(SSID) around the coner of my house and my signal is slight lower than the other I will connect to other than my linksys.. And I don't wish to change SSID to another name. Hmm..If only a software can connect using mac address will be the best.;)

You know what - I appologize, I tried it myself in the Windows XP Wireless Config utility and it does not support using the BSSID natively.

You may have to use a configuration utility included with the network card to get the BSSID connect functionality. This seems like a blaring omission on MS's part.

On a side note, I would highly recomend changing your SSID from the default of linksys and changing your administrative password if nothing else than you know you're connecting to your AP when you try to access it by name.
