Some help with the WRT54GX

    Hi all,

I recently bought a WRT54GX router, and have a few questions.
    1) I've been having some strange signal problems. Occasionally, the signal will drop entirely and I'll have to restart the modem. What happens more often is that I'll get booted off of any chat client I happen to be using (more programs might be affected, but regular web browsing, FTP's, torrents, nothing else is affected). When this happens, the "wireless" and "internet" LEDs are both flashing rapidly at roughly the same time on the router. Any idea this is exactly?

    2) I live in a very network-dense area (I can pick up anywhere from 15-20 different AP's. I'm on the least populated channel that falls into the non-overlapping category, but I'm wondering if my current problem is caused by the excessive networks around me in some way. Can anyone go into detail about that adjusting the network density on the router page actually does?

    Thanks in advance

Are you using wrt54gx v1 or v2? Are you using the newest firmware?
Do you have a cordless phone or microwave? They can also kill the signal often if you using them. Try using channel 1 or 6.

my best suggestion would be, if its less than a month, return it and go for some other router, like the N series. SRX always have these issues of frequent d/c which I dont think Linksys seriously addresses to resolve.
