    Hi,

I was told that HyperWRT is the firmware upgrade to look to for the middle of the road tech user. While I like lots of options... I don't like to tweak stuff too much... here are my main concerns.

#1. Being able to tweak the "power settings", since i live in an apartment building.

#2 Is it true you can increase the throughput of the network? So you can break the limit of 54 mpbs? or is this done with #1?

#3. Security... i have to VPN into my job and will switching to this firmware cause any potential security holes? I see that telnet is a feature... but can it be turned off or only accesible from inside?

Thanks so much for your help....

    :D

    Yes - this is possible.

No. That is not true. For that you need the "S" version of the WRT54G, and corresponding PCMCIA/PCI/USB Cards.

The router should influence on your VPN security. Telnet can be turned off - and furthermore it IS only accesible from the inside.
