    Dear all,

I would like to know more about the Line tabs of the SPA9000 and the EXT tabs of the SPA942 phones.

can anybody help me confirm my understanding of these?

first i better state my end goal:
    **********************************
I have 2 phone numbers assigned to be by my VoIP provider (www.blueface.ie)

i would like one one to ring if either of these phone numbers are dialled, that is, the reception phone. From there the reception phone can forward any calls relevant to Mary's phone. Should mary's phone need to dial out it can.

    SPA9000 Line Tabs:
    ******************

each line (eg Line 1) means you can assign a physical phone number to it that your VoIP service provider has given to you.

    correct?

there is an option in the Line tabs called "Contact list"
here you can assign which SPA942 phone to ring based on the current phone extension.

    i have 2 phones with extension 100 and 101.
phone 100 is the reception phone and phone 101 is Mary's phone.
in each Line1 and Line 2 i have set the reception phone to ring:
    100, cwfd=aa

    SPA942 EXT tabs:
    ****************

i think i have a new slant on what EXT1 and EXT2 mean so i need to clear it up as i make have the phones configured wrong even though they receive calls!

Ext1 means you assign Line 1 of the PBX
Ext2 means you assign Line 2 of PBX.

so that Ext1 rings when the number assigned to Line 1 of PBX rings and EXT2 rings when the number assigned to line 2 of PBX is dialled.

current EXT set up is EXT1 is enabled on both phones and EXT2 is disabled. all phone and PBX setup was done via the wizard.
the reception phone can receive calls when both numbers are called by callers.

    SPA942 Phone TAB:
    ******************
    PHONE TAB QUESTIONS:
in the Phone tab of each SPA942 there are 4 line key menus.

now on the reception phone it reads as:
    line key 1:
    ************
    extension: 1

    line key 2:
    ************
    extension: 1

    line key 3:
    ************
    extension: disabled

    line key 4:
    ************
    extension: disabled

    Marys phone:
    line key 1:
    ************
    extension: 1
    share call appearance: shared

    line key 2:
    ************
    extension: 1
    share call appearance: private

    line key 3:
    ************
    extension: disabled
    share call appearance: private

    line key 4:
    ************
    extension: disabled
    share call appearance: private

what do these 2 phones setup mean?

i think the shared option in Marys phone could be that she uses the first Line number to dial out as when i ring my mobile from mary's phone i see the caller ID of the first phone number.

any input to what i need to configure to get my end goal is appreciated.

    kind regards,
    Will.
