    Hi Everyone,

This may not be the right place to post this but I had to start somewhere.

Recently got my home internet upgraded to 1Gb up/down. It comes into my house over cat5 so i can plug my laptop in and get about 600Mb up/down.

When I use my Linksys E3000 router and plug my laptop into that router, i can only get a max of 100Mbits

THis is despite my router showing 1000FD for all the ports connected

    root@gate:/tmp/home/root# robocfg show

    Switch: enabled gigabit

Port 0: 1000FD enabled stp: none vlan: 2 jumbo: off mac: 00:05:85:00:00:03

Port 1: 1000FD enabled stp: none vlan: 1 jumbo: off mac: fc:f1:36:a9:86:7f

Port 2: 1000FD enabled stp: none vlan: 1 jumbo: off mac: 00:14:fd:10:81:0a

Port 3: 1000FD enabled stp: none vlan: 1 jumbo: off mac: 44:1e:a1:3e:ee:3a

Port 4: DOWN enabled stp: none vlan: 1 jumbo: off mac: 00:00:00:00:00:00

Port 8: 1000FD enabled stp: none vlan: 1 jumbo: off mac: 00:01:36:1f:e4:5a

    VLANs: BCM53115 enabled mac_check mac_hash

    1: vlan1: 1 2 3 4 8t

    2: vlan2: 0 8t

    3: vlan3: 8t

Any idea why i'm only see 100Mb speeds when going through the router to the internet but not internally?

    thanks.

    Hello,

The Linksys E3000 has a gigabit switch built in. But the WAN throughput is not related to the physical interface. Look at this chart.

    https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/old-tools/charts/router/bar/74-wan-to-lan

More powerful routers can route faster. :) For gigabit speeds you will probably have to abandon Tomato and go with Ubiquiti gear or something for full speed.

Hello! Thank you for your response and that chart.

That's just disappointing isn't it? But it does give me another project.

    I'm glad it wasn't something i did.

Though i'm sad about giving up tomato :(

    Thanks again.
