SRW2008 vs MGBSX1

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.... I have a SRW2008 running 1.0.4 firmware. I am having trouble convincing the SRW2008 that it has a MGBSX1 in port 8. The device on the other end of the fiber is an HP ProCurve 4000M. The ProCurve indicates that the link is up both visually (green light = good) and via the web interface. The SRW2008 sends a mixed message....the lights are on but no one is home. The MGBSX1 is in port MiniGBIC 2, the lights are on port 8 indicating a gigabit link. WebView indicates that the link is down.

Is there a special sequence on how to introduce a GBIC to a SRW2008?

    Any help is appreciated.
