Does Linksys make a USB notebook adapter with SRX or pci adapter with a removeable or outside antenna? If you had a version 2 of the WRT54GX with the removeable antennas and wanted to extend the range would you have to put high gain antennas on all 3 antenna ports? Does a range extender work with SRX units?

Thanks for any info. isherwood in the Bahamas

Linksys finally came out with the WMP54GX, which is a PCI card which connects to an antenna stand with three removable antennas. According to their filing with the FCC there is another version with high gain antennas. You can get the WMP54GX on sale this week at BestBuy with two fifteen dollar mail-in rebates on it, The rebates end this Saturday 8/20/2005.

I edited my posting to make it a bit more readable. The WMP appears to be their designation for a PCI card adapter. The WMP54GX is a two piece adapter, there is a PCI card, which is inserted into a PCI slot in a desktop computer and a separate antenna stand connected by three cables to the PCI card. There is a PC Card version the WPC54GX which can be inserted into a laptops PCMCIA slot, it also has two fifteen dollar rebates on it .

Linksys does not have a USB (Universa Serial Bus) adapter at this time. You are looking for a USB adapter with removable antennas with the SRX feature. There is no FCC filing for the device at this time. I would check the FCC web site and the Linksys web site. The FCC website is https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm

use the Q87 prefix or the old PKW prefix and do a generic search. A device usually appears on the FCC database before you will see it on the market, unless it is a rebadge of another manufacturers product.
