SSH tunnel & port forwarding help

    Hello everyone,

    I am running a Linksys WRT54G v3.1 with Sveasoft Alchemy firmware. I am able to SSH into the router, and set up port forwarding.

    What I would like to do is create an SSH tunnel over my wireless connection to the router for encrypting my traffic (instead of using WEP/WPA)

    So I gather that I would pick a port number (say 11234 for example) and then set my Web Browser to use a proxy at localhost:11234.

    Then SSH tunnel into the router with PuTTY, and forward port 11234 on my local machine to the ROUTER... but what port? If I do it to port 80 I only get the Router's web-interface. :(
