SSID not Disabled

The Disable SSID function doesn't seem to work whether I use the Linksys firmware or HyperWRT 2.0b4 firmware (which I am using because it finally allows me to use WPA-PSK, whereas the latest Linksys firmware never worked).

No matter whether I Enable or Disable the SSID broadcast, my Dlink connection software and NetStumbler show the SSID every time. What gives?

NetStumbler will display SSID whether the function has been disabled on the router or not, and your Dlink WCM probably has the same capability.

Just because your SSID is not broadcasting on the router doesn't mean it cannot be found by other means  which is exactly why it is not a security feature!
