At home I can easily stream video mpeg-1 and mp3 audio. But from a remote location using high speed isp, the thing is very slow and usually chokes. A download of a 300mb file says dl time of 4 hours. Very very slow. Is there something I can do to fix this? And why it streams fine when at home. I'm using the same remote address to access it.

What is your broadband upload speed? Probably your throughput on your LAN is at least 20-40 times more than your broadband upload which would be the choke point for remote downloading.

its mediacom, whatever theirs is??? But are there settings in the router that can effect streaming? One thing linksys told me to do on another issue was change the MTU from 1500 to 1400.

    According to Mediacom website (mediacomcc.com)...

    On the tour information
They doesnt give their exact speed but "50 times faster then 56k".
That means 2800 or 2.8Mbit/s download.

    On the main information
They also doesnt give their exact speed but here they say "50 times faster then a 28k8 dial-up"
And this means 1440 or 1.4Mbit/s

So is 2800 or 1440? Their information to the customers and on the website is really unprofessional.

If the download is 2800 or 1440, the upload will be like 25% of the download speed i guess.

found a test I ran showing the following...

    TCP/Web100 Network Diagnostic Tool v5.2.1e
    click START to begin
    Preparing Speedtest . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Done
    running 10s outbound test (upload) . . . . . 244.08Kb/s
    running 10s inbound test (download) . . . . . . 4.29Mb/s

Your speed is 78.16 times faster than 56Kb dialup

Your PC is connected to a Cable/DSL modem
