Strong interference on channel 1, but no other channel 1 networks around?

Not sure if this is the proper forum to put this. I am running K26USB-1.28.7501.2MIPSR2Toastman-RT-VLAN-VPN on my RT-N16.

In inSSIDer, it shows no other wifi networks running on channel 1, and there are a few weak signals on channel 6 and 11. But when I put my router on channel 1, at certain times of day there is "severe" interference according to Tomato and none of my devices will connect. There are no other channel 1 networks running at the time of this interference. My devices connect fine when I switch to channel 6 or 11.

I was wondering, what else in my area could be causing the interference on channel 1 if it's not another wifi network? I'm guessing no one else puts their networks on channel 1 because of this strange phenomenon.
