I am running 1.1 - NO problems - I know you are not a fan of adding features but i thought I might suggest an enhancment to an exisitng feature...

It would be nice to be able to add more than 2 services (port ranges) to the 'blocked services' list on the 'access restriction' page

The only thing I would add would be IPTables-style logging for support of external logging with WallWatcher

I can't promise you anything at the moment, but I will sure take a look at it. But it can take some time. I first want to make wrt54gs firmware and some option to control the xmit power. After that I will take a look if more fields can be added in "Access Restrictions" & "Applications & Gaming"

I'm not going to add any new features/packages. You can better use sveasoft or wifibox firmware if you want those. The "blocked services" maybe an exeption (not sure yet) because the feature is there, but only restricted.

A quick feature would be to add the wireless clients table buttion to the wireless status page, just like the DHCP status page.

WL_ActiveTable.asp. It looks like linksys put it there, but just never got arround to linking it.

Now if only the same could be done for the WET54G...

i would love to see an extended version of port forwarding, i think it would be great if you could translate the ports as well.

    62.x.x.x port 80 goes to 192.168.0.6 81

    PLEASE think about this one

    @Avenger20:
Are your modifications always based on the newest Linksys firmware?

I would really love to see tx-power-control in the german firmware

    ftp://ftp.linksys.com/international/firmware/WRT54GS-DE_2.07.2.de_ETSI_code.zip

Keep your modifications as simple as possible to make the firmware working as the original, many users will thank you! :D
If users want more functions they can alway refer to sveasoft's firmware.

It never hurts to ask, right? :)

Besides, I am emailing Linksys asking them to add it... I used a BEFSR41 for 4 years with wall watcher, having that external logging is nice. I miss it on the WRT54G.

I'd say keep your mods as few as possible.

Indeed, most people will only need the basic features.
I for example use my WRT54G only as an access point. That's the reason I started making this firmware, because I wanted to use the official firmware (because of the new wireless drivers and options).

Is this firmware for the wrt54gs in German?
I got my WRT54G in German, but the firmware language was in English.

I don't know, because I get my router on Tuesday, but I downloaded this firmware at the german Linksys-Site.

I think this firmware is in german, i'm not sure but the filename differs from one at the english linksys site.

As I understand no new packages will be added to hyperwrt.

However there seems to be some existing support(?) pages that are "hidden" (not linked to). Some of these (especially WL_ActiveTable.asp but also Site_Suvery.asp) could be nice to have in the web config :)

http://192.168.1.1/Site_Suvery.asp # nearby wifi access points
    http://192.168.1.1/WL_ActiveTable.asp # list of (in)active wlan clients
    http://192.168.1.1/SysInfo.htm # System information
    http://192.168.1.1/SysInfo1.htm # More system information
http://192.168.1.1/Cysaja.asp # Even more system informatoon

Indeed, I've noticed these pages. They are probably already there for a next firmware. "Site Survey" is a cool one (you can see the typo they made ;)) The first 2 will probably be included in the next version.

DO NOT CLICK ON THE SITE SURVEY link in the previous post

It crashes hyperWRT1.1 - When I click the link - the power light on the WRT54G just flashes....

Here it worked, but only wired because all wireless connections will get disconnected. I have a WRT54G v2.0 here.

Did your router completely crash (as in having to recover with new firmware upgrade)? And what version of WRT54G do you have?

I dont have anything wired to the router - everything is wreless. I had to do a power reboot. I tried the link 3 times, all three times, the router crashed - the router power light just flashes.

It is no problem - it works fine after I power cycle - I just wont experiemtn with the link anymore :)

    Mine is a WRT54G V2

    @Avenger20:
The firmware was already in german when I got it, it's exactly the same as I said above (WRT54GS-DE_2.07.2.de).
The translation is very good :D

Please merge your modifications with this firmware, because the tx-power is really bad in this release

First of all; thanks for creating and sharing your firmware modifications!

One feature I miss in the standard Linksys firmware is to enable static bindings in the dhcp server. So that every machine always gets the same ip address, based on its mac address. Is this easy to add? Doesn't appear to be a big modification, just an addition to the web interface which edits the dhcp daemon's config file. Please consider.

    Telnet Feature

    Avenger,

Is it possible to add the Telnet feature? If not, how are you able to look at what files are sitting on the router?

I saw in another post that you were looking at the WRT54G as simply an AP and that most people would not want to use the more advanced features. I use the WRT54G as my main connection to the outside world and I love to tinker with all the extra features. Perhaps you can offer two lines of development (if you had time, who does? ) One line for the ones that want your basic enhancements and the other line for the bold/brave ones that want the extra features not already built in by Linksys.

I know you'll probably say that if I want all the other extras, to go to the other firmware versions like Sveasoft or Wifi, but out of all of them, I like your version the best.

Like someone else said, can't hurt to ask you.

    Thanks,

    Sguror

    more port forwarding fields.

I started using the firmware and I really do like it because it doesn't totally change the linksys's code or add stuff you don't need. I was wondering if you could possibly allow more port forwarding fields on future versions. Because when you have a lot of services... you require a lot of fields. I think I have only 2 fields left if that. It would be cool if there were more fields.

    I agree with acid.

Netgear routers have a lot more forwarding lines, because there is only one field where you can enter forwarding data and then apply it and it will show up in a table under this field

    I second acid's suggestion too.

And also reinstate the Wireless Clients Table button in Status|Wireless, which I read has been removed on v1.3. I know it can be accessed via Wireless Mac Address Filtering, but it's such a cumbersome way of going about it - it makes its omission in the Status area look like an after-thought.

I have been trying v1.3 since the weekend and it would be so much nicer if some of the user-friendly features from WiFi-Box firmware can be implemented on future versions - like having a Wireless Clients Table button in Status|Wireless
