Here are a few suggestions, hopefully interesting, and hopefully realistic.

    1. the led "internet" always stay on, even when you are disconnected from the internet. (WRT54G v2)

    2. have the possibility to edit QoS priority, instead of deleting the old one and making a new one. + sorting them by priority

    3. i dont know since when, but the dns send by the dhcp server is now the ip of the router, instead of the ips of the ISP. Would be nice to have the possibility to choose. I dont see the advantage of having the ip of the router.

    4. a counter (and a list ?) with the number of active connections of the pNAT.

    5. a live log (including firewall) on the router for those who dont have a syslogd

    6. /!\ on almost every change on the router, the internet connection reset /!\ (even when the change is nothing to do with the lan/wan links, example syslog radio button).

    7. a radio button to allow ICMP traffic. When the firewall is ON, it blocks everything. (by the way, what is the "Prioritize ICMP" option for, if the icmp is blocked by the firewall ?)

Dont hesitate to ask me any help if you need it, i'm always ready to help you improving your fantastic firmware.

    1. Why?

    2. Remove and add new ones aren’t hard, but sure editing would be better.

    3. I think it’s caused by the way dnsmasq works.

    4. That would be really nice.

    5. That could also be good. I use wallwatcher anyway, that way I can keep the logs too.

    6. No? I think it’s only the wireless connections that are dropped. If that could be fixed I would be really happy since one of my wireless clients always have to be restarted when dropped. However, I am not sure about that it even can be fixed; thibor would probably have done that long before if it was possible.

    7. Maybe that could be useful for a few peoples, yes. ICMP is not blocked when it’s outgoing.

the 1 is of course not a suggestion but a bug repport :)
    wasnt clear, sorry :)

    6. i confirm that the internet connection reset too.

you are more than welcome to implement any and/or all of your ideas, just don't expect someone else to do it. if you do it, i will test it and if they don't cause problems, will include them in the main codebase

you know you are the only one able to do it.

My role here is just to suggest idea to improve your firmware.

I thought it would be nice to you to have ideas from outside.
If you dont like them, it's fine too.

    3) Disable "Use Dnsmasq for DNS" and you'll get the result you wanted.

Oh, I se that now.

Didn’t know, but that’s worse of course.

Most of us would probably love to do that but cant. At least that’s the way I feel about it.

he is not the only one that can do it.

he does add features when asked, however he most likely feels it maybe is not worth his effort doing much to the firmware now.

Whatever he decides, we'll be very happy to use his firmware.
He can be prout of what he'd done.

Yeah, I am pretty sure he is.

and still, we all can find an advantage by helping him with some interesting suggestions and bug repporting.

This is how all great software works.

Acid: thanks for the suggestions. as i stated previously, you are welcome to do this yourself if it is something you want badly enough. i seriously doubt i will be doing any of them, i've more than enough on my plate for the time being. Perhaps in the future, I will have more time on my hands to revisit this thread and your suggestions, however; i feel the firmware is reaching maturity in terms of features and stability and wouldn't want to keep adding features and/or changes just for the sake of it, and risk undermining stability, which is the MOST important factor.

    I agree with that :)

But i think the point 6 is very important. (but not easy to fix though)

I'll try to keep the bug list up to date. Stability is indeed the most important factor.

Yeah, performance and stability rocks!
But I still would become a sad panda if the development would stop.
