Surfing the internet through a VPN connection.

    Hey,
I have a quick question. I have a Linksys WRT54G with hacked firmware on it that allows for a VPN connection. From school I can create a connection and log on. I can see local computers that are on my home network. But I can't surf the internet when I am connected to the VPN. What settings on the computer do I change so I can surf the internet through my home modem? Is the connection encrypted automatically? When I log on are the user name and password encrypted? The reason I want to surf the internet through my VPN is because I want my web surfing encrypted.
    Thanks,
    David

I think if you make it your default gateway then I believe that should do the trick.

When I do Ipconfig this is what I get:
    Microsoft(R) Windows DOS
    (C)Copyright Microsoft Corp 1990-2001.

    C:\DOCUME~1\DAVIDS~1>ipconfig

    Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.120
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

    PPP adapter home:

    Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
    IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.51
    Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
    Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.51

    C:\DOCUME~1\DAVIDS~1>

How do I get the router to give me the default gateway of 192.168.0.1 instead of the computers ip addrss?
    Thanks,
    David
