I have searched for and found a variety of firmwares for my WRT54G and want to try them all however I am a bit concerned that once I go with Sveasoft, for example I will not be able to try out HyperWRT, or viceversa.

What have you all found about switching firmwares? Once I flash it to something not linksys firmware am I doomed to that firmware alone? Can I go back to the Linksys firmware if I happen on any stability issues?

    Thanks in advance!

there is no problem of switching firmware as long as you reset the router back to default settings to clear nvram settings. to do this linksys recommend you press the reset btton for 30 seconds AFTER you have upgraded to a new firmware.

you could also before upgrading use the web page and reset to default settings to avaoid any differences in nvram parameters.

Thanks for your reply.. If things b0rk, it's always nice to know that I can go back to the original Linksys firmware and be good as (almost) new..
