Switching firmware from HyperWRT/tofu?

What's the proper way to switch firmware?

I have tofu13c right now on a WRT54G (v2 or 2.2), and want to switch to DD-WRT v23(final). I want to see how my game performance is with that.

Some have said to put the mini version on, then upgrade from that. But then some have said that's only for GS type routers.

Confused. I've read the wiki on it too. Doesn't mention anything about this.

    Thanks!

YES you MUST FLASH MINI FIRST

You have to flash it with the mini version first. If you use anything other than the mini version first you may brick your router. I have 2 version 4 and I had to flash it with the mini version, then reboot and do a hard reset to the router., then I flased it with the standard version. Hope this helps. Feel free to pm me anytime. :thumb:

aeonone, please give us some report about dd-wrt 23 when you flash and test it (overall performance, p2p,..) - is it better than tofu.

    thanks ;)

I have a similar type question. I am running Thibor 11 on 2 of my WRT54G routers (I went through DD_WRT mini then to Thibor). Now that I am running 11 can I just upgrade to 14 straight or should I go back to mini first then back to Thibor 14?

You can upgrade directly to 14. I do not know if you need to clear the NVRAM or not, but doing so will not hurt. :)
