Talisman Flashing problem

I have Talisman running on 4 routers, v3, v3.1 and 2 v4's and i havent been able to get WDS to work on this at all, once in a while a ping will go through. The WDS status shows connectivity so im at a loss for words.

Anyway i was going to flash back to Alchemy which worked fine but on 2 of these routers after trying to flash (once with web interface and once with TFTP) all i get is the blinking power LED. Has anyone run into this when trying to get rid of talisman?

I paid for the 1 year subscription after seeing the Talisman versions they claim to be making like VPN etc but only the Basic version has been released, very dissapointing. The Basic version 1.1 is stable so i have absolutely no complaints there but it just couldnt do the WDS, 1.05 worked fine. :wallbang:

Have you looked at the router logs? If not enable remote logging and use Wallwatcher to give you some insight as to what might be wrong. Did you possibly introduce a loop, meaning do all 4 routers complete a circle back to your main router? Have you tried manually entering you WDS links in the CLI? example: wl0_wds0=00:12:17:D1:34:93,auto,tkip,psk,SSID,SharedKey

Sounds like you may have bricked 2 of your routers; it’s not a big problem though. If it were me I would use a jtag cable and use that to erase the NV-ram to see if that fixes the problem if not you will need to go through hairydairymaids de-bricking guide which if you do it properly will bring your routers back to life.

Try DD-WRT it's good and WDS works great

Disman, thanks for the idea, i didnt do the logs because when i flashed up to 1.1 talisman from 1.05 i left the router configs in tact, i'll definately try that, should be easier since i only have 2 routers now....

jgxhs, yea the 2 are bricked, i've not done the jtag before but thats not my big concern although i will probably have to do that. My comcern is to why my routers wouldnt flash off of talisman in the first place.

    Thanks for your input

jgutz20, I've seen many posts about the router not taking anything after version X sveasoft firmware. I haven't seen a definate answer either on how to get it to flash again. Don't hold me to it but usually flashing to a Linksys version will work. Once complete you can go to the desired version, in your case Alchemy.

Hey i took your advice and tried going to the linksys firmware. I tried flashing using the web admin, after a few minutes of the scary flashing the light went solid but when i connected to the routers IP i got the same old talisman.
I'd love more than anything right now to try Thibor+hyperWRT or DD talisman says no. Im going to need to find a place to buy myself a JTAG cable unless anyone has one i could borrow? (i'd pay for shipping of course and im an honest guy!)? :flowers: ? Any direction to my next step will be greatly appreciated, i dont know what im looking for and im not into the making side of it.
    :help:

Jtag cables are so easy to make and so to be honest with you if you don't feel you are able to make yourself one then it probably isn't the way to go for you.

well flashed them all over to Linksys firmware, then to DD saving all current settings. WDS works like a charm once again with making absolutely no changes to the configurations
