    Hi everyone,

I have a Linksys BEFDSR41W which is a combined router / adsl modem and wireless access point all in one.

This device works great but I have only just been playing around with remote access.

Basically I have written a basic server in Java and I have been running this server on a machine inside my LAN. I can access this server from any of the other computers within my LAN and it works great but I just cannot gain access to the server from outside my LAN when I use the external IP address.

I have tried to setup port forwarding on my router to port 11, which is the port im running the server on but that doesnt seem to work. Further more whenever I setup port forwarding my whole internet connection seems to go down!?!

I went on to try using the DMZ host option but that doesnt seem to allow access into my LAN either.

Ive turned off firewalls where ever possible so I just cant understand whats going on. I really want to access my server from outside my LAN.

Any tips, advice or pointers would be gratefully received.

Open the web setup on the router then you will have to specifically open whatever port u are connecting on and forward that to the server computer on your network. Then you will be able to connect from outside your network using your wan IP
