    hi all,

i've been using thibor12 on my v.2 for a few days now, its going great, except for the QOS and the version number is puzzling.

Why go to 1.05.6 why not 4.70 like before ?

QOS: i think the low setting for Application Priority might be too low.

i put my ftp port 21 in QOS, i had it set to low but it slowed down to a crawl when ppl where logging in (the commands where barelly coming in). Should i set it to medium, higher or is there some problem with qos ?

I don't see the html, pop, smtp ports in this version, are they on medium by default or rather do they have a priority setting like the official firmware has for them ?

Also, is there an announcement thread for new releases of firmwares ? i'm thinking make it a sticky, and ppl can subscribe to that thread to be notified by email of new releases.

the qos default is "low", that is by linksys's design. all non-prioritised traffic is set to low. i went to 1.05.6 because i wanted to use a newer codebase, it's quite a lot faster than 4.70.6(which was the newest when i changed codebase). i'm not changing over again just because 4.70.8 has arrived, it's a lot of work to change it. with regard to qos, set priorities to med, high or v.high; low is the normal priority and doesn't have to be set

thanks for the quick reply, i do some p2p and ftp and i'm sure i'm not the only one, so would you recommend to set those 2 to medium and the other 3 web/pop ports to high or highest ? that would be fine for me i think. i mean when you gotta surf, you gotta surf yunno? p2p can speed up again once my page is loaded.

Do you think you could put these 3 web ports in as default ports in your firmware? Like the official, on medium or high but atleast entered by default ? i'm sure i'm not the only one who enters & sets them manually.

    >newer codebase, it's quite a lot faster than 4.70.6
and many thanks for this firmware, i think so too that its alot better with yours than the official.

ps: you should put links to your firmwares in your sig ;-)

i put dns to highest, http and https to high. that works for me. i leave p2p off the list since it defaults to low and it's ok as it is

good idea about dns lookup, its port 53 right ?

yunno, that might be a good idea to put that one in with Optimize Gaming Applications.

i was wondering, just what does that option do exactly? im guessing it sets some ports on highest, but anything else?

if you have a thread that explains all the features or a release thread , i would gladly look it up.

yes, dns=53, optimise gaming applications sets certain ports that are known for gaming such as quake or cs to high priority.
