    hi ppl..

thanks to Tom from HyperWRT forums, I managed to load the Thibor's 17/09/05 version of his FW onto my WRT54G. Yes, it works without any problems on the G version of this nice router ;)

My WRT54G is version 2.2, I had DD-WRT latest alpha loaded, the reset the config and loaded up THIBOR's GS FW and everything works great.

Not sure if this has been commented on before, but it's great news for me. But as always there is a risk of bricking the router -- KEEP THIS IN MIND when you try this out!!!!

This is the link to the post in official HyperWRT forums...

    Tom's answer to my post...

Are you saying that his GS firmware will work for the 54G? Will it work for a v4 router? If so, how do I make this work? Thanks!

You might want to check out the version produced by tofu and based on Rupan & Thibor's worked being discussed in the HyperWRT forum here.
I've downloaded it but can't get my wife offline long enough to try it out. Plan to do so as soon as I can get the chance.

maybe version hw4207t5.zip should be posted here on linksysinfo from all user reports the release looks very good. However I'm not able to download it from the link provided on the Thread.

Well, I got mine WRT54G to work with Thibor's firmware and I'm still not sure how i did it. I installed the firmware by accident (figured it was also for the WRT54G) and it all went smooth.

But when I tried to make an connection it dropped instantly and that's when i figured I installed the wrong Firmware (well, that and the obvious title "Wireless-G broadband Router with speedBooster"....)

Then i tried to install an older version of his firmware with TFTP which also seemed to work and then tried to switch back to an modified .bin file of an original WRT54G firmware (changed the first word W54G to W54S in the bin file), which also seemed to work with TFTP.

But when I checked to see which firmware I was running on the router it still says v4.70.6_Hyperwrt-2.1b1-(Thibor), Sep. 17, 2005", but NOW IT IS WORKING!?!

Oh well, I'm glad it is working again

Oh yeah, I don't know which firmware I was running before the update and I've got the WRT54G V2.0 version.

Can you switch back to any G firmware?

    Yes and no.
No, if you try to up- or downgrade from GUI. I couldn't :(
Yes, if you use ftp methode; downloaded from Linksys (xxx.exe file)
Have tried upgrading on WRT54G -> via DDWRT -> Thibor firmware
Have tried downgrading on WRT54G -> Thibor -> Linksys ftp -> Linksys 2.02.7 firmware -> Tofu6 firmware :cheer:
Right now I don't use WDS so I stick on Tofu; very stable firmware. Great thanks to THE MAN
