What is the safest connection on AP+WDS mode?I have 2 AP working on AP+WDS and the only working security is WEP.I use Tomato 1.07.WPA works only on one AP(the one which is connected to the Internet).

I have WPA with a 128 character key working on my WDS setup

I have used WDS, setup with WPA (TKIP), with a 63-character unprounceable gibberish key.

I think 63 characters is the max.

Youre right... Sorry. I have a million things going on in my head and I had a brain fart.

    ----------------------------------

Yes, when I needed to AP's it worked very well. Both routers acted as AP's

Mastec which version of Tomato you use?Is the more options in Tomato 1.10 with WDS?

As in my signature, 1.10. As for more options I don't know. I recently dumped DD-WRT to go with Tomato. The latest version available was 1.08 then 1.10 was released.

Here is a screenshot of the options on the client router

I have WDS with WPA Personal+AES on 3 devices:

    ADSL line--ADSL2MUE Modem (bridged)--WRT54GL(WDS+AP) -))- WHR-G54S(WDS+AP) -))- WRT54G V2 (WDS)--wired device

I have hardcoded the WDS MAC addresses.

Works fine. I've also tried WDS+AP on the WRT54G V2 and that works also.

Under "Advanced - Routing" I have Mode=Router, RIPV1&V2= Both, and Spanning Tree Protocol ticked.

Had connectivity problems when I didn't have STP selected. Also had problems when I used Automatic/Lazy WDS.

Have you got DHCP server eneblaed on that devices?

The WRT54GL is my DHCP server.

PS Correction to my previous post. Under "Advanced - Routing" on the WRT54GL I have mode=Gateway, and on the WHR-G54S and the WRT54GV2 I have mode=Router

My 1st AP works with WPA,the problem is the second one dooesn't work.Did you add any MAC adresses to the MAC filter?

    No, don't use MAC filter.

Are you sure you have the AP setup right on the second device?

Could you bring the second device near to the first and wire the two of them together? Then you could disable WDS on the second device and confirm that AP mode works on it.

Also, when you say that WPA doesn't work, what are the symptoms of it not working?

I can connect only to the first device when I set WPA,I cant connect to the second.

Perhaps try swapping the 2 devices? If you get different symptoms then that might help us find where the problem lies.
