    Hello,

I was wondering what's going to happen to our routers and to Tomato when IPv6 comes out? Will it all become obsolete and useless?

    Thanks!

No reason why they should if the 3rd party developers update their firmware. Probably the OEM manufacturers won't though - they will just sell newer routers. I know Teddy Bear is doing his best to add it to TomatoUSB and RT, slowly but surely..... it's there in the latest builds - but no GUI yet.

And DD-WRT has IP6 in their builds for testing, so I am comfortable that by the time it will be needed the devs will have in place.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that Victek has IP6 in his new 1.28 build, just not configurable from the GUI.

Thanks for the info. Last I heard, we will run out of IPv4 addresses sometime in 2011

That doesn't mean that all of a sudden your ISP will be pushing a IP6 address at you. they will still have the same block of IP4's they have today. Devices connected to your router will still be able to use the IP4 addresses as they do today (192.168.1.1 or what ever you are configured for).
This will require a transition time over the next few years from what I read.
