Tomato in Wireless Client Mode with Ad-Hoc network

I'm trying to come up with a good backup plan for times when my DSL line is down. It seems to happen if there's an extended power outage of more than 4-5 hours -- the phone line and DSL goes dead.

I've got a Nokia phone with JoikuSpot Premium, so I can quickly start a wifi hotspot on my phone with it's 3.5G data connection. The problem is that JoikuSpot creates an Ad-Hoc network.

I've tried to change the wireless mode on my router running TomatoUSB to "Wireless Client" instead of "Access Point" but I can't get the router to establish a connection.

The "Wan Type" is set to DHCP -- but I don't think the Ad-Hoc wireless network will give out a DHCP lease.

Is there some setting (maybe for "Wan Type") that will let it work with the Ad-Hoc wireless network on my phone? Almost all of my computers and devices are wired, so the wifi network itself isn't very useful unless it can link into my router.

    Thanks.
