Can you compile a fuse.o for this mod for use with ntfs-3g 4.4?

Also, can you tell me how to change the USB automount script if the ntfs driver changed to ntfs-3g instead of orginal ntfs.o?

An issue I noted in the latest firmware is that when I try to put in the USB thumb drive, all the words in the NAS-USB page disappears (only the caption for each section remains). This may be a bug.

Do you firmware v6 have IMQ per IP like Victek have and SD/MMC support?

    Print sharing/serving?

Any chance of implementing the Print serving (p910nd) from Teddy Bear's mod? I can't use his mod because he doesn't offer VPN.

great to hear that! one of the wikis out there says it's not a part of your build. i'll try to find it again so it can be updated.

I did search this thread for printing and didn't get any results, so i assumed the wiki was right.

i advise not to use it i switched to usb building so it will not fit on your router.... and you have no real benefit from it... use victek's mod

I've got a problem with Tomato's WOL implementation. It uses ether-wake which is great, but it defaults to sending the packets on the eth0 interface and not the br0 interface.
Is there a way to get this changed? since all the wired clients are on the br0 interface.

or is something wrong with my flash?
the WOL in the web interface doesn't do anything, but if i manually run the command on the br0 interface it works.

    Small request for Thor

This is by far the most comprehensive build I have seen. Unfortunately, I have the 4MB Asus WL-520gU, which will not accomodate your latest release.

I was thinking of customizing and compiling the build myself, as there are a couple things I don't need. For example, I know SNMP is around 900KB, and I definitely don't need it. I'd like to know what else I can, or need to, remove to put me below the 4MB mark.

If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you please post the total size of your latest release, along with the approximate sizes of the following components:
    • Latest RAF ND base (or the version yours is built upon)
    • OpenVPN Client
    • OpenVPN Server
    • SNMP
    • FTP Support
    • SFTP Support
    • SDHC/MMC Support
    • USB NAS Support
    • USB Print Support
Thank you very much for whatever info you're able to reply with. This will be extremely helpful to others like myself who are just starting out with DIY builds.
  15. thor2002ro

    thor2002ro Addicted to LI Member

    the exact size is 4.640,768
if you remove the snmp you should be ok
the mmc driver is removed some builds ago due to usb support that rendered it useless , the other components you mentioned didn't really measured space usage on them
  16. BigMatza

    BigMatza Network Guru Member

Man, that would be perfect. How intertwined is SNMP into your build-- easy enough to remove? By the way, I decided to post a lot of my questions in a new, less-specific thread. Please check it out if you have a chance.

    Thanks. :)

hi Thor, thanks for the mod! Just want to check with you, will there be USB support in the next release? and will it be able to install optware/ipkg for the OLEG firmware of WL-500gP series?

I really like tomato instead of OLEG, however I do need these packages/software from OLEG as well, such as Transmission, etc.

Thanks again! Have a wonderful weekend~

Can't flash, "File is too big to fit in MTD"

I can't upgrade my WRT54GL 1.1 (with 8 Mb of flash mem) with that firmware, everytime I try, after 12 secs I have the following message:

"File is too big to fit in MTD"
  23. Trademark

    Trademark Network Guru Member

All WRT54GL's have only 4MB flash. You will need an early version of the WRT54GS (v1-3) or a WRT54G-TM for 8MB flash. The ASUS WL-500gPv1-2 also has 8MB flash.

(That is unless you soldered in the 8MB flash yourself, in which case there could be any number of things causing the problem...)
  24. PifGadget

    PifGadget Network Guru Member

    Ouch !

Thought it has 8 Mb Flash [:(]...

I needed RAF features + OpenVPN and Thor MOD was the only version to have it...
Too bad, since I don't care about USB or SDHC support.

Would a version without USB and SDHC take less than 4 Mb?
If yes, is such a version planned?

I believe this version, Tomato 1.25.8515 .7 v6, from the first page of this thread should work for you. It was the last Thor mod posted that still fits on 4MB routers.

    Nice mod.

Thank you Thor for this nice Tomato mod. I have sent you few bucks by Paypal. :) I had only one problem. After installing firmware and clearing NVRAM (Asus WL500gP) was everything nice but speed. I have 20mb/1.5mb and max down speed was 6-8mb. I tried to speed up many ways. This helped me: I saved settings to a file and after I loaded this same settings, suddenly speed was 19mb. Dont know why, but it is running like lightning now. IP/MAC BW Limiter is excellent and easy to set. USB printer running. I wish you luck in school and waiting for your next releases.....

I have V1. I used Oleg FW (and its Czech mod from Koppel). Your FW has significantly lower CPU usage. :) Do you think, it can handle 50/5mb, or 100/10mb line? We plan it with my neighbour.

    thor2002ro Addicted to LI Member

as I see kernel 2.6 doesnt work with my v1 router cpu... I cant make something i cant test... maybe on the final version it will support more cpus... I will look into it.... I'm interested in newer kernel too....

if Victek RAF release works on it this should too...
  41. teddy_bear

    teddy_bear Network Guru Member

Currently only kernel 2.6 based builds from this thread work with WNR3500L - and even there the support for this model is not 100% completed. The most current test build for this router is tomato127-USB-9044MIPSR2-beta06u.04-Ext-TEST.rar from https://sourceforge.net/projects/tomatousb/files/Experimental (beta)/TEST
If you're interested in thor's all-inclusive build - you'll have to wait until thor moves to K26...
Theoretically it's possible to implement support for BCM471x CPU in kernel 2.4 - but it won't be me doing this.
Actually, the MIPSR1 builds (https://sourceforge.net/projects/tomatousb/files/Experimental (beta)/K26-MIPSR1) should be compatible with WL500GPv1. However, somebody needs to test it to verify if it works or not.

teddy_bear a question... if I flash it and things go "south" will I be able to recover the router with the asus recovery method?
  43. teddy_bear

    teddy_bear Network Guru Member

Asus restoration utility always worked for me on WL520GU and RTN12/N16 models, and believe me - I "bricked" them with bad flash many many times...
But I can't guarantee anything for you - you know better what you can and can't do with your router :).

    good day,

i was under the impression that nd firmwares can only be flashed to the newer chipset series which do not include the older WRT54G/gs or wrtsl54gs with 4mb/8mb support.

May i ask for a clarification?
    Can i flash thor's firmware v6 to the 4mb WRT54G?
Can i flash thor's newest firmware to the wrtsl54gs with 8mb or wrt54gs with 8mb?

    Thank you.

I would like to see a final version for us with our 4mb flash routers that get stuck in the past... Would be nice because for many of us its by far the best mod out there cause integrate all we need.

Nice work Thor and if you dont have a WRT54G i gladly donate one of mine to you. I also did try to get an Asus but in the third world those things are rarely seen.

We are almost your fan club . Keep that in mind.

I have a Linksys WRT54GL router. It had worked in Tomato SDHC mod well.
I installed to it the Thor mod (Tomato 1.25.8515 .7 v6), I can't establish Optware packages, because during the installation the router is rebooting and it doesn't answer.
The power led is twinkling and the internet connection broke.
If I installation the sdhc mod again, and clear the nvram, the router going to work well.
    What is the problem?

    Pls help me!

    I have a little problem...

Last night i try to make the sd mod. When I tested the sd card cable connections, with multimeter and no short pins, etc, I installed the thor firmware... Then the router is restarted with no problems so I inserted an sd card. When it inserted and I try to format the power led started blinking and the router is not responding. Then I unplugged the router, but its not booted if the sd card is inserted :S If I removed the sd card, my WRT54GL is booted with no errors but the nvram is cleared :S

So this is software, hardware or both error? :)

ps.: Sorry for my bad english, but I'm hungarian :)
