I just make openvpn server active to get my android tablet secure connection to my home network.
I used this tutorial to get it working: http://www.howtogeek.com/60774/connect-to-your-home-network-from-anywhere-with-openvpn-and-tomato/

Everything is working well with TCP protocol, but I would like to have best performance available and try to get connection working with UDP protocol.
It does not work, all I get is some TLS handshake failure. (i'll check this later from the logs and add it here)

You're really not going to see a "dramatic" improvement in performance going from TCP to UDP, trust me. Stick with TCP if it works based on what your needs are.

Make sure you change the setting from tcp to udp both in the server (VPN Server Configuration/Basic/Protocol) and in the client's config file (change 'proto tcp' to 'proto udp' in the .ovpn file).
