    Vic,

    tomato-K26USB-1.28.9013MIPSR2-32K-RAF-V1.2c.trx <== is for RT-N16? Right?
    tomato-K26USB-1.28.9013MIPSR2-RAF-V1.2c.trx <== is for RT-N66U? You do not add 64K postfix?
    So where's 60K version for E4200v1?

  4. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

    I did not compile yet waiting some feedback for dnsmasq, I had no time enough to run this version, will you help me on it? if yes then I build for E4200.. but please give feedback.

    Victek - wps button kills wifi because it is set in gui - administration - buttons and there is an option - you can set switch for wifi, leds, etc

  6. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

    Yes. Also the first version included AC support.

    @Elfew, thanks I hope @mrQQ knows it..

    OK, I'll give you feedback on my short time running 32K-1.2c on my RT-N16.
    Mute any of these, will kill DNSMasq, will not connect to net.
    Mute dhcpv4 logging
    Mute dhcpv6 logging
    Mute RA logging
    So I do not know why we shall mute when we can't get a connection to net.

    No.2, It seems my d/l transfer rate (IDM) is now varying again from 160k-400k pretty fast.
    and between varying, it will pause about 1s-1.5s then continue varying.
    OSKAM client seems unaffected.
    My setting are:
    IPv6 disabled
    Announce IPv6 on LAN unthicked

    That's great ;) .. go to see what's wrong on it today.

    DNSMASQ error happend when i checked Mute XXXX logging, tested on AC66U and F7D4301 with 1.2c/1.2, log show:
    And the line 8 of /etc/dnsmasq.conf is:

    Victek,maybe you compiled the DNSMASQ do not support those parameter? I remember i used shibby's 112 haven't these issue.

    For RT-16n users - this is a script for turn on/off LEDs on your router... I use them in scheduler:

    For example:
    Every day, from 8:00: (LEDs are ON)
    Code:
    gpio disable 1
    wl -i eth1 leddc 0
    et robowr 0x00 0x18 0x1ff
    et robowr 0x00 0x1a 0x1ff
    Every day, from 21:00: (LEDs are OFF)
    Code:
    gpio enable 1
    wl -i eth1 leddc 1
    et robowr 0x00 0x18 0x1e0
    et robowr 0x00 0x1a 0x1e0
    You can also use this script and put it in Administration -> Scripts -> WAN UP (LEDs go OFF everytime when router is rebooted)

    Thanks for the info, shibby's build uses an older version, not updated yet, I'm the 'Guinea Pig' integrating dnsmasq now since @Kevin Darbyshire-Bryant leave. @kyrios && @szpunk I'll build v1.2d in next hours, please test again. The updated dnsmasq includes dhcp-relay and some fixes for IPv6. BTW a good info in dnsmasq.conf file, I didn't realize to test it ;)
    b) Because you have to configure the right map for RT-N66 ethernet connector, please click >>Configure in the Ethernet Status box and check Swap Ports Order in Ethernet Monitor Status - Settings.
    a) For IPTV .. did you checked IGMPproxy in Advanced/Firewall Menu ? do it please.
    a.1)If you plan to see IPTV in your PC or Android device, enable UDPxy also.
    a.2)If you plan to see IPTV via wireless then enable Efficient Multicast Forwarding in Advanced/Miscellaneous Menu also.
    Remark: Some ISP supply a Public IP for IPTV services, if yes then enter these data in Advanced/Routing/Static Routing Table Menu.

    @Elfew The script is OK for Tomato RAF users with version 1.2, in the beta test section to V1.3 I included the steathMode module already. ;)

    @Victek - OK, but this is a working solution which I have been using over 1,5year in my RT-16n... StealthMode will be nice feature with extra options - I like sunset settings

    @gffmac - I dont know, just try it - you can run this script in Tools -> System and try

    Gave 1.2e a go on my ac66u tonight. Enabling bandwidth limiter still results in an instant crash, forcing a reset and reconfigure.

    Also noticed 1300mbps for the first time on the 5ghz tab as well....don't have any actual 802.11ac devices to test though.

    There still seems to be a bug with the rate calculations:

    @ Victek - the WNR3500L has an 8MB flash but because of how netgear programs their boards they don't have the full 8MB available to them. They use some of the flash space to store data. IIRC the max flash space size available to the WNR3500L is 7471104 bytes atleast what it is when i am compiling custom openwrt for it.

    I know, Tomato for RT-AC66U is not completed for some features yet, wip, but.. it's the real third party firmware obtaining high transfers and low ping ;).. step by step, now I'm finishing igmpv3 for the Russian colleagues in order to run IPTV.

    @lefty thanks for the magic number.. I have to leave a slim, beauty and cheap Tomato RAF .. but VPN... let's see.

    Victek,

    I could confirm E4200v1 v1.2d is much better than v1.2
    I now get extremely rare glitch on my OSKAm client.

    It's the DNSmasq 2.67 test14 is getting better or you raise the prio or
    your coding is better :)

    I think E4200v1 v1.2e couldn't be worse.
    Will flash it tomorrow

    :eek:...Good day to all! Tell me, what in the advanced settings you have selected Country / Region? I, selecting Country / Region - EU, only one channel - 40 (or auto), wherein Rate - 877.5 Mbps (wireless adapter Asus pce-ac66).

  55. Victek

    I always recommend a nvram erase and entering settings manually or using nvram text dump in tools/system/window.
    Each new version solves some bug found in previous version, sometimes the bug it's in config files and if you upgrade and restore previous settings the new version will get corrupted with the bug...

    Glad to read it.. but there are still many unfinished items and bugs... for normal usage it works fine but it can be improved, wip ;)

    I have no clue about this model, (http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/asus/start) could you send me in a PM the nvram dump text file, delete personal settings or just send me the earlier nvram text file after a nvram erase, I need to know some details (boardflags, boardtype, switchmap, boardrev, .. ) to be included in the VLAN map.
    Do you have access to Advanced VLAN menu now with enabled options ? if yes then enter vid 500 and 600 with Vid Offset 616. Test and feedback please.

    1.2e is much better than 1.2d (in late night test..) and bcmrobo.c is optimized when I updated new switch chipset ID for RT-AC56U .. so, one of these two patches is the responsible ;) .. or both... I think both. Log activity with 120 users connected..

    @nurofen ok, I have to update igmpproxy.conf file but I'll release a new beta (don't know when..) with tcpdump included to capture activity of igmp traffic in your router and create a log file to be analysed.

    @zapoqx , thanks for the feedback .. I liked 1.2e .. now I enjoy next beta :)

    Thanks to all for the feedback, I think we drive in the right direction.

    First i select Country / Region - EU like this forum said, after i got 1300 Mbps i switch to my location -- CHINA, i still got 1300 Mbps! All other advanced setting default.

    On my side, the "Magic Point" is: Manual select a channel on "Basic-Wireless-5G", do not "Auto" select channel!

    Victek, i upload two AC66U CFE files to you, i wish these can help you in some ways.

    The file names "CFE_Backup_256k_EU_ASUS.bin" from one guy on DD-WRT forum, he backup original ASUS CFE from asus's stock firmware;

    The other file names "CFE_Backup_256k_CN_Tomato.bin" it is my device CFE, i backup under Tomato firmware;

    I have compared these two files, the MAC is different of cause, another different i can see is:

    Are these means one device sale to Europe and another for China? And the setting affect wireless setting?

    I can see other different contents but i cant understand.....I hope these can help you drive AC66U forwarder...

    Yes, the main difference is the country settings, information is pulled by the firmware to establish default wireless adjustment, later you can change these settings. I'll take a look on these files, ni hao!

    Thank you! Only I have an interesting problem it turns out, I just put the channel at least 56 - 5.280Ghz, as I no longer see the PC 5GHz range, although the smartphone Galaxy S4 sees network, but the internet does not work on it, and on the tablet, which is connected to 2.4GHz range internet works. A router and a Wi-Fi adapter I bought in Germany. Asus probably made some restriction for Europe.:(

    @Victek - you rock sir. Today's build works like a charm. A couple of notes for future builds.

    1. The largest image I ever managed to load on a WNR3500Lv1 is 7503872 (Shibby's 112 VPN build). JFFS can also be removed from this build to make room for other features, as the available number of blocks is too low to allow mounting a JFFS partition.

    2. OpenVPN in your builds is still @ 2.3.0. While not a major showstopper, the latest build, 2.3.2 includes bug fixes for TLS cypher naming and significant code cleanup.

  67. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

    Well .. as usual all of you know what I was doing today ;).. I started this morning updating OpenVPN to 2.3.2 ... and openssl too after finishing with dnsmasq test14 issues ... next release will include. Personaly, I doubt that manufacturers will update their firmware as we do... so ... why do you buy the router without Tomato firmware? :) (wrong question... LOL)

    Edit: @vlads Would you test the version for your router with OpenVPN 2.3.2 and Openssl 1.0.1e ? I'm not a VPN geek and I hope you can squeeze better and test. I think @RonV is an intensive user also .. let me know.

    I have no experience with VLANs, as they are rarely used by our local ISPs.

  76. RMerlin

    RMerlin Network Guru Member

    No need to, as there are plenty of routers with excellent HW for Tomato. The problem is not about having HW that works with Tomato, but more about having Tomato support the available hardware. Which usually means having developers who have both the skill AND the time to implement support for these newer routers coming out.

  77. Elfew

    Elfew Addicted to LI Member

    sure - just add IP range for this vlans in bw limiter

  78. vlads

    @Victek - there's an issue with the build 1.2e for the Linksys 3200 - the USB and NAS menu is missing. Functionality doesn't seem to be affected - any configurations defined with build 1.2 continue to work post upgrade.

  79. Toastman

    Toastman Super Moderator Staff Member Member

    To add to RMerlin's post, if we are to support new routers, we also need the hardware. Donations are very important for that, particularly as the latest routers are quite expensive. [ Don't forget that developers generally have their own router that they are happy with and have no particular need to buy another one! So for them to support another router, is a labour of love... ]

    Thanks to Shibby, Victek, TVLZ for being the most active in this area.

    Hi Vic,
    I installed 1.2e on a RT-AC66U and I am only getting the 2 ghz band. No 5 ghz. I'm sure I just missing something, but I'm not sure what it is. Thanks.

    P.S. Thanks for all your efforts.

    What version did you ran before? ..

    @to devs ... openvpn updated to 2.3.2 due to security bug and openssl update to 1.0.1e .. in the git.

    I was running the stock Asus firmware. 3.0.0.4.374_726
    Installed 1.2e using the Asus recovery tool.

    To be fair (and I'm not saying its what he was saying), I'd be for a tomato branded router for a different reason. All of you devs would have better control as to how it runs. You'd have enough room that you need for the router to utilize and with enough crowdfunding, perhaps enough to add in features that would work overall with the right hardware. For example, having a Wizard Setup for tomato as a first time setup that are simple yes/no questions and use the community feedback on what could be considered common necessities (Do you use N? Yes, N-Only connection on Wireless. Do you need to track bandwidth monitoring? No, disable bandwidth tracking for more throughput... etc ). Of course that is me and the further I go, the further off topic I'll end up from this thread so I'll stop there.

    Back on topic...
    Gonna be heading out for a bit, but surprisingly, no issues found. In fact, I do believe Wifi on some of the devices have actually been more stable with the newer version compared to 1.1y (WOOHOO!) and seems to play friendly with the 2 radios (I was having issues keeping connection at times and finding the 5GHZ if I was using 40 upper or lower instead of 20 on just the 5GHZ radio while leaving the 2.4 GHZ at 20). The only test left is if IPv6 will play well with 3 of the devices, but that can be tested later when I have some extra time.

    Weird, please try shibby version also upgrading with the recovery tool... just to compare.

    @zapoqx thanks for your point of view, the setup wizard is the actual scenario for most of routers providers. I think that Tomato allows the configuration in one screen only (Basic/Network); WAN, LAN, WIRELESS, CHANNELS, PASSWORDS, right?, and this is the main difference why some users like Tomato over other alternative firmwares. About 'custom' possibilities.. lot of questions that user will be bored to answer and some of them sounds as "Heaven Songs" for almost majority of people, this is the reason why Tomato GUI shows ALL possibilities in the left side of each menu page, to be accessed straight and avoiding menu/submenu. Of course, my opinion can be wrong since I can configure Tomato with blind eyes after 7 years dealing with it ... opinions are welcome. :)

    In fact neither of the changes have influenced cause you don't use vpn, right? only openssl/openvpn was modified, no reason. I smile now when you say 'can you see the miliseconds difference?' ... I was lucky, you didn't mention microseconds next ;), give a new try.. server congestion.. trace route changed with new public IP?...

    BTW .. one test version for Netgear WNR3700 v3 is ready in the Beta area, may be is too fat yet, just report findings..... more models. To devs, I'll commit after tests if OK.

    Good day to all! Dear Victek, I want to ask you if it will work on firmware Tomato squeeze out the maximum stated in 1300 Mbps from a router made for Europe? I rearranged a few European countries, but all the time Rate = 877,5 Mbps.

    Just installed 1.2f on RT-N66U in order to check OpenVPN-Server.
    Good news is that all clients (router for site2site, Android-devices and W7-notebooks via 3G or third-party-LANs) connect without any problems!
    Bad news is that reproducibly on enabling Admin Access > Remote Access: HTTPS (local http&https) the webinterface crashes after saving and does not come up again neither locally (http or https invoked, Lan or WiFi) nor remotely.
    The whole router keeps working perfectly well, WiFi and VPN is up, everything almost perfect just no more access to the GUI. After a complete hardware reset everything is ok again.

    Update: Exactly the same behavior on E4200 (AP only)!

    Update2: No need for hardware reset! Turning off remote access and https via telnet is enough to bring the GUI back to life.

    Kind rgds

    Thanks Peter and glad to read openvpn functions remains fine. About bug related to access remote, one question, did you enabled dmz or the problem can be reproduced in default conditions too (no vpn, no dmz) ? It's important a detailed configuration description to emulate same conditions.

    @Victek ,I flash WNDR3700 V3 today, short test, it's a real "Beta" version::D
    1. Model it's not show the real name of 3700v3;

    [IMG]
    2. VLAN error, I can connect to router use wireless only, WAN DHCP can't get ip from up device, LAN1-4 not working sure:
    [IMG]
    3. I change VLAN to this, WAN DHCP working fine, but LAN1-4 still cant get ip, ever i set a static ip on my computer, like 192.168.1.2, still can't ping the router's 192.168.1.1; 2.4G wireless stay fine.
    [IMG]
    4. 2.4G no N mode selectable, same 5G, let it "Auto" it's working on N, but 5G sigal it's very poor, close to my laptop only got -81 RSSI.

    I stop test because i can't get the LAN working, so no other info now...

    Ok, wait, use official firmware by now, I have other priorities. Thanks.

    @szpunk , perfect, not bad to be first try without having any router with me to try ;), not bricked and 7958000bytes size accepted. Would you send me the nvram text file again via Private Message? ..What about LED's and USB? ... curious manufacturer ID ... Epigram... a Broadcom satellite company...thanks.
    But the model number now shows the real CFE content.. the information gathered from dd-wrt nvram dump it's not correct ...so, it will be easier to sort it now.

    E4200: AP only (nothing else enabled, no WAN, no USB-device, no bandwidth-,web-, trafficmonitoring ; just 2,4 + 5GHz WiFi (WPA+WPA2 Enterprise) and one cable to the switch).

    RT-N66U: WAN static, OpenVPN-Server (TUN, UDP, tls-auth: incoming, Push LAN to clients, Allow Client<->Client), 2.4 + 5GHz WiFi (WPA+WPA2 Enterprise) and one cable to the switch and one to the modem; aproxm. 50 Static-DHCP entries;
    no QOS, no USB, no access restriction, no monitoring or limiting of nothing.
    Not even logging to Syslog-server set up as I just installed your FW in order to check for VPN due to nobody else's feedback.

    To reproduce:
    set Local Access to HTTP+HTTPS
    set Remote Access to HTTPS
    set (remote) Port to >36500
    save
    GUI gone
    Works with W7/32, W7/64 combined Opera 12.x, Opera 18, IE, Chrome

    Update:
    Just gave it another try: As soon as I set Local Access to HTTP+HTTPS and save > GUI gone and unreachable. Status of Remote access doesn't matter; it can be set to disabled, HTTP or HTTPS!
