    I am guessing that is ISP's IP v6 address? If I could under my provider, I would. But last I checked, I don't believe resident users have it and I'm not sure if they are in the same boat as the Business one (which I learned at the office, IP v6 is handled as a 6-in-4 tunnel according to router info).

    hi vik,

    i'm having issue with upnp when conducting beta test

    my qnap upnp auto configurator can't seem to add these ports to the upnp table on the router with the latest e4200v1 beta firmware.

    another guy said this
    So i'm wondering, could it be something in the firmware regarding upnp that is causing this not to work correctly ?

    the ports in question are...

    80

    443

    873, 8899

    so i had to manually port forward these, since they didn't get added to the upnp table. i tested all of these ports were open, except for 8899, not sure why :/

    Could this be a bug in both upnp and in port forward ?

    I know in the upnp that common ports below 1024 are disabled by default. This is to prevent malware and viruses from setting up service on your home equipment. There are command line options to allow these ports but I don't recomend that you do and that you rely on static port forwarding for these.

    ah so that explains why. Okay thx for that.

    But what about port 8899 ? why is that not being upnped, and even manual port forward doesn't seem to open it :/

    http://www.speedguide.net/port.php?port=8899 .. I recommend you to follow this simple guide..

    Well Known Ports: 0 through 1023.
    Registered Ports: 1024 through 49151.
    Dynamic/Private : 49152 through 65535.

    Choice any of Dynamic/Private port range.

    uh now i can't access the tomato admin page. It comes out stripped so can't navigate or see anything to change the setting.

    Any idea whats going on ?

    I only see this

    can't unhide or navigate elsewhere or change anything :/ any ideas ?

    What you did before it? then revert it.... at last resource, reset the unit. Remember that gui works on Port 80 .. so if you are using another service on Port 80 and you access from Internet you have to shift GUI to another port....

    This solved my problem. I had to access admin page and change the web port for tomato firmware http to a port in this range.

    Now it works.

    But the only port 80 i forward to, is my QNAP ts-659 Pro server. So it seems fatal if it would cause the tomato gui to bork out if you didn't change the port for it :/ hm..... maybe there should be some notification on this, especially when setting up manual port forward or upnp involving port 80 (seeing as this is default port for tomato).

    @Moogle Stiltzkin ... there are some basic knowledge's expected from the user when you jumped from a basic configuration to a web server and additional services setup ... so, you asked and we answered you...now you will keep these basic rules for the next steps. ;)
    In my case I have also a web server working in port 80 and tomato gui works perfect (In LAN), so .. may be some cookies in your browser hanged it?... clean cookies and try again ...

    Edit; did you installed owncloud already? recommended ...;)

    OK I am up on the "v" release. IPv6 using prefix delegation is working. I am going to let it "soak" overnight before I start re-enabling my access restriction rules.

    One question do you want me to test QOS? If previous releases whenever I enabled it we lost all routing.

    didn't it work in U ?

    @RonV How do you authenticate with your ISP? PPPoE? Does your IPv6 work after booting normally?
    My ISP requires PPPoE for authentication and gives IPv6 via DHCPv6-PD. However it doesn't work if the router reboots. I have to connect the WAN cable to the router after it has booted in order to get IPv6 to work.
    It works normally with the stock Asus firmware, and old Tomato versions with radvd (but has MTU problems).

    No .. you can see in the Log file made b the router ... dnsmasq 2.68 with latest update date.

  18. RonV

    RonV Network Guru Member

    My IPv6 is delivered via the AT&T Uverse residential gateway. There is no PPPoE for my configuration.

    QOS worked until IPv6 was turned on. Then the DNS service was unable to locate upstream DNS servers. I ran U for 12 days with no issues but couldn't use QOS if IPv6 was running. So my compromise was to use "U" with no IPv6.

    Hi Victek,

    thanks for FW Update @E900. No Bugs so far.

    But now i have a Request. Is it possible to make a Gui for the dnsmasq tftp Server in your later FW Versions. I know you have a to do List, so maybe you could that add to.

    Thanks for your great Work.

    Help me a little bit ... what's your idea of the GUI?, What do you need? Do it in a sheet of paper, pppt or xmind ...

    Quick Start ?
    Enable at startup?
    Location of files ?
    LAN ?
    WAN ?

    Edit: Or much better... show me what options do you configure in dnsmasq.conf window to startup and configure the tftp server ..

    Thanks

    OK...it's been 12 hours and I started to turn on the advanced features in "v". Looks like access restrictions are working and show up just fine in each iptable. But when QOS is turned on DNS lookups are failing again due to DNSMASQ not being able to ping the DNS servers:

    Some people would just upgrade without clearing NVRAM to default, and only reset to default and re-enter settings if there's a problem. Backing up your settings backs up stuff that's in the GUI and stuff that's not in the GUI. Restoring those settings to a new firmware version can cause big problems.

  24. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

    You can simply upgrade to version 1.2v, nothing changes in nvram, no reset is needed.

    Hey !
    Just to make sure... QoS is working as it should with ipv4 ?
    Im using a PPPoE(ipv4)+VOIP/Dect Router (fritzbox) but everything in my LAN goes to a RT-N16@v1.28.9013 MIPSR2-RAF-V1.2v
    PPPoE/Voip Router (192.168.2.1, DHCP off, WLAN off aso) >> RT N16 (192.168.1.1, DHCP on, WAN set to static ip 192.168.2.2, Gateway 192.168.2.1).

    Screenshot_2.png

    Screenshot_3.png

    Screenshot_4.png
    Can QoS even work "normal" with my setup ?
    I need to use VOIP/Dect Router cause of my german ISP and his technique@ VDSL2. There is sadly no way for me to use PPPoE @ the RT-N16.
    But i hope qos will work anyway with my setup...

  27. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

    Yes, the issue only appear when you use ipv6,
    Did you open DMZ in Fritzbox to RT-N16 IP?... if not you're doing Double NAT and restrict RT-N16 Internet access.

  28. Holy_Hunter

    Holy_Hunter Serious Server Member

    @Victek: No, i dont use DMZ with my Fritzbox. But i could disable NAT in my Fritzbox.
    I got an option for it, but im not sure that my setup will still work after... should i give it a try ?
    Screenshot_5.png

    Pretty sure im using double nat...
    For example i have to set up a portforward from my Fritzbox to >> the Wan IP of my RT-N16 >> to the Clients...
    But for some reason UPNP seems to work trough both devices. Tested today with xbox live.
    Anyway i got it disabled now. UPnP + NAT-PMP. I dont have a problem to set up the portforwarding twice as long as it works fine. xbl (tcp/upd 3074) is working without UPNP, tested 2mins ago.
    Is it bad to use double Nat ? arent 2 firewalls better than 1 ? :D

  29. Victek

    Victek Network Guru Member

    At first glance I would say ... disable NAT in tomato router.. it's the only way that your internal machines will reach Internet without troubles, but then, why do you installed a second router with advanced functions using tomato firmware? yikes.. I know.
    VoIP service should work in tomato router if first device routed VoIP correctly through dhcp to devices... but I think Fritzbox have dedicated LAN socket for Internet, IPTV and VoiP, I'm mistaken?

  30. Holy_Hunter

    Holy_Hunter Serious Server Member

    well im only using the fritzbox cause of VOIP. My main Phone number (ISP) is "IP only" aka VOIP and im also using the Dect functions for my wireless phone devices. So if i would like to get Voip working as it should i would need a extra Voip Gateway with analog phone support aso.
    But another problem is that there is only 1 real PPPoE session possible with my ISP (VDSL, Vlan 7 tagged, resale). Kinda weired but the problem is that i can only use PPPoE + Voip at the same device.
    I couldnt use just Voip with the fritzbox and pppoe (for internet) with the tomato router.

    Good questions. I would say Yes but Im gonne quote the part of my fritzbox.cfg which should awnser this question. (ar7cfg):

    Best Regards...

    Darn, I turned off my PBX about 3 years ago since VoIP services from the SIP community of providers was getting too expensive when you compared them against providers like OOMA. I do miss the flexibility a home PBX provided but none of the "unlimited" players that offered BYOD had reputable service policies.

    But in other countries this may be great. But here in the USA we are bound by what the un-elected FCC regulates for telecommunication services.

    I went ahead and updated to 1.2V (from 1.2H). Ya, I would agree about how solid it is so far after just 1 day. However, when you made a post about SIP, I was like "Oh ya!!! I forgot to uncheck that!" So I turned it off, saved, router connected, but it wouldn't let systems connect out (to WAN). Had to restart the router to make that happen. I suppose it was a small hicup though.

  44. Victek

    Hehe, well .. no, siproxd is more than it. It's a switch control center for your sip phones, as you asked in the PM it can support your wireless phones if you point to the sip proxy(there is also an intercept to make it route sip communication automatically through the proxy so - not setup required).
    Here are some screenshots.

    As I asked, tell me your router model. This feature is only available for >8MB flash routers.

    Tomato RAF with SIP VoIP service included available in downloads page. This version will run in parallel with normal RAF version until we'll get more feedback. Following models available: RT-N16, N66, AC66, E3000, E3200, E4200. It can be build also for other models but I prefer to get feedback at first for the mentioned models.

    If I'm not mistaken my answer is: siproxd is a plugin for any SIP/Voip service ... you are describing how your device (smartphone, sip phone) as a client seeks the sip server, this process is on the client side .. siproxd is the carrier.

    Do it in your client and it will work.

    Well, in my case its vlan 7 for PPPoE. Im on resale (VDSL+Phone only). Othwerwise there would be also vlan 8 for IPTV.
    Just ordered a VDSL-Bridge/modem, where i can configure diffrent Vlans for diffrent interfaces.
    Or should i try to set the vlan tagging with the RT-N16 @ Tomato Raf and disable any tagging @ the VDSL Bridge ?
    Im feel kinda low cause im using double nat at the moment. :oops:

    You can do it easily if your phone service comes together with vlan7 pppoe, use the RAF SIP version and then you can distribute VoIP to all smartphones and devices at home...

    Sounds good, i will give it a try when i got my VDSL bridge.
    Best would be if i could still use my fritzbox as a Voip device, so im able to use my analog phones.
    I could configure the fritzbox as a IP client (VDSL Modem disabled,Lan1=wan), but im not sure that Voip will work after. But someone allready told me it will work, so i will defently try that as well.

    I forgot to post here (been hectically busy)
    So yea, with the VoIP module disabled before obtaining the build, my phone under Republic Wireless, in order to receive calls over WiFi and Text messages, I had to disable SIP in the NAT Helper section. It just wouldn't work no matter the version.
    After the VoIP module was given and made sure it was enabled, I found my phone ACTUALLY managed to work way better than before. For starters, I didn't have to set anything up. I was looking and making sure there was anything that needed to be setup and nothing that I could find.
    For added measure, I disabled the VoIP Module and checked to see what would happen. Half the time, I got the calls coming to me on WiFi. The other half, it wanted to go through cell towers as if it couldn't get through properly over the bandwidth.
    I also tried in situations where the network was busy.
    Example: Downloading a fricken huge patch while taking a call.
    Normally, I would be fine with the exception of random cut offs kinda like there wasn't enough transfer rate. On their end, sometimes I faded. With the module on, I didn't have any of those issues surprisingly.
    Another thing to note, people on the other end would usually get, what they consider, echos from me. That seemed to never happen.

    It turns out overall a good experience and I'm glad to have been able to find some time and test this. Thanks Vic! Hope others that have more standard VoIP (Vonage, Ooma, etc) have good luck on their end as well.

    Thanks @zapoqx it looks fine then, some notes for users using it:

    - Service is configured automatically, in most of cases you don't need to touch anything when your VoIP provider used standards settings to provide it. If not click on:
    Intercept outgoing SIP traffic to Siproxd

    - Service is available for wired and wireless devices connected to your router.
    - No need to activate QoS or other priority (disable H.323 and SIP) services in your router.
    - The siproxd service have a live monitoring panel in the GUI, you can see service activity and service users.
    - You can include shortdial key numbers in the GUI to be used in your phone for frequent call numbers.

    It's a feature for digital communications, then it will be included in RAF versions as standard feature for routers having >8MB Flash and for selected routers with less than 8MB, size after compilation is 180KB, much less than some other packages used in Tomato.

    The credits for this feature goes to roadkill, he built this feature with kernel 2.4 and WRT54, now it has been updated to K2.6 and included in Tomato RAF.

    Thanks!

    Hi @Victek, hi all.
    I have upgraded my .r raf to .w with siproxd, not that I planned to try it, but why not keep it there for future use. I did the same save-and-compare of nvram with old and blanked out settings and I put in the new default settings when unsure, as I usually do, using nvramdiff app found here.
    In short, I went disabling siproxd at startup, and I got:
    "The field "siproxd_if_inbound" is invalid. Please report this problem."
    I can add, for debug purposes:
    Don't really know what's wrong there :)

    need to go into the siproxd webinterface and click save one time,
    if it doesn't work you can create the needed siproxd nvram keys from telnet/ssh:
    Code:
    nvram set siproxd_enable 1
    nvram set siproxd_reboot 1
    nvram set siproxd_if_inbound vlan2
    nvram set siproxd_if_outbound br0
    nvram set siproxd_intcpt 0
    nvram set siproxd_listen_port 5060
    nvram set siproxd_daemonize 1
    nvram set siproxd_silence_log 1
    nvram set siproxd_autosave_registrations 90
    nvram set siproxd_rtp_proxy 1
    nvram set siproxd_rtp_port_low 10000
    nvram set siproxd_rtp_port_high 10100
    nvram set siproxd_rtp_timeout 300
    nvram set siproxd_rtp_dscp 46
    nvram set siproxd_sip_dscp 0
    nvram set siproxd_default_expires 600
    nvram set siproxd_debug_level 0
    nvram set siproxd_debug_port 0
    nvram set siproxd_logcall 1
    nvram set siproxd_shortdial 1
    nvram set siproxd_pi_shortdial_akey "*00"
    nvram commit
    reboot
    Please use Chrome for testing!

    i've tried googledns and my isp dns but the only difference is, googledns checks out as full score on

    http://test-ipv6.com/

    Says i got ipv6
    http://ipv6test.google.com/

    Other behaviour i noticed..... when i login to my isp account, it doesn't immediately show ipv6 in wan, only ipv4. It takes a while maybe like 10-15 minutes before i refresh that it then shows a wan ipv6 address.

    Also at that point, google doesn't show me as ipv6, not until i go to cmd and do a ipconfig /flushdns and also to disable/enable my ethernet network adapter.

    A re-check after that, then confirms my ipv6 status as active.

    Anyway my situation with ipv6 is....

    1. some sites do work, and even games like cardhunter, diablo 3..... voip skype etc....
    2. but some that don't work are like facebook, and forum.lowyat.net
    3. youtube can access the site but videos won't start or stream whatsoever.

    my friend took a look and he needs to know

    trying to get the ipv6 to work on the victek raf firmware. cauz it seems we found a few issues in the firmware that is causing some issue.

    PS: we discovered 2 issues.

    Issue 1
    ipv6 mtu has no gui to set it. so the only way to do it was via putty, which most users have no clue to use. My friend suggest that you add in a gui option to configure the ipv6 mtu.

    For my situation, we had to set the ipv6 mtu 20bytes below ipv4 mtu to get it to work right eg. youtube, facebook, yahoo, cloudflare among other things to work etc...

    Issue 2
    the ipv6 lease is delayed, and also is assigning it to br0 rather than to ppp0 which is what we needed

    hi viktek - regarding version w on E4200 sip settings:
    i can't change the inbound interface to wifi (eth1) - when i 'save' the settings, it reverts back to lan. makes no difference if sipproxy is started or stopped.
    thoughts?
    thanks!

    It's set automatically .. fix to 1480.
    You have to read it... it's important...

    Your DNS server (possibly run by your ISP) appears to have no access to the IPv6 Internet, or is not configured to use it. This may in the future restrict your ability to reach IPv6-only sites.

    Ask your ISP to solve... since also Mikrotik router have this problem it's not a router user ... he has to solve. ;)

    For some routers LAN and WL are same interface... so there is no change needed and you must be able to use your wired and wireless devices either.
    But yes, there is a bug in Save function for the GUI, we're checking it.

  84. Moogle Stiltzkin

    Moogle Stiltzkin Networkin' Nut Member

    we fixed this by changing the ipv6 mtu via putty. you need to add in a gui interface to change this setting.

    Or did you mean that if i change the mtu under basic setting for ipv4, it will automatically set ipv6 mtu to lower auto ? Because if that is so, i don't think that worked.

    I think you misunderstood... microtik DOES NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE, because they DO HAVE the gui setting to set the ipv6 mtu. that is the point of that example, not sure how you came to a different conclusion :X

    so what is the answer to this ? cauz my friend needs to know to perform further checking x_x;

    My friend tried to setup in the script setting for init for the mtu ipv6 to be changed on boot. But it didn't commit. Is this because of that save function gui you mentioned ?

    simple type from telnet

    Code:
    root@unknown:/# nvram show | grep ipv6
    ipv6_6rd_borderrelay=xxxxxx
    ipv6_6rd_ipv4masklen=0
    ipv6_6rd_prefix=2602:100::
    ipv6_6rd_prefix_length=32
    ipv6_accept_ra=1
    ipv6_dns=
    ipv6_get_dns=
    ipv6_ifname=six0
    ipv6_portforward=
    ipv6_prefix=
    ipv6_prefix_length=64
    ipv6_radvd=1
    ipv6_relay=1
    ipv6_rtr_addr=
    ipv6_service=
    ipv6_tun_addr=
    ipv6_tun_addrlen=64
    ipv6_tun_mtu=0
    ipv6_tun_ttl=255
    ipv6_tun_v4end=0.0.0.0
    root@unknown:/#

    the you can change any value by:

    nvram set ipv6_prefix_lenght="48" or the value you like..
    nvram commit

    and that's it..

    to change kernel values use Administration/script window... then type the value ... when rebooted it will take this value...

    @roadkill
    Thanks for helping out. I just needed to disable it as I don't use it. In fact I had already done it by nvram setting the enable value to 0, commit, reboot, alright then. I use Chrome btw.
    I was just willing to report an issue...
    @Victek
    I did not play with anything about it at all. Perhaps the problem is I disabled it (the checkbox) while it was running (btw, should it be running by default? I wouldn't think so, but it's your choice after all :) ).
    I mean, that checkbox about auto run on startup was on (by default).
    I removed the checkbox and clicked save.
    That generated that error and did nothing in nvram. That's the issue I was trying to report.

    Then personally I stopped it by the gui, did the nvram change manually, commit, reboot, alright then!
    Don't know what happened but I did not play with its values in nvram at all, before having the error!
    Personally no problem, I solved immediately by ssh ;)
    Thanks guys.

    Thanks MatteoV, the bug is solved, how to reproduce was the problem, I disabled service w/o quick-launcher and then warning appears ... I'll release a new version soon.. let's see if any other person reports other tomato raf bug.. I'll like to release shine version.
    I'll disable siproxd by default in next release... but the test was for siproxd, this is the reason why I activated from the boot ;)

    what are you talking about ? of course i had to buy router, my isp subscription fees, and chasing around to find out how to set this up (time = money). Not sure why you thought i got this for free :x

    in fact from what i observed from my isp to get ipv6 to work

    1. the default router they give you easiest. but it's crap for torrent
    2. microtik. hard to configure, but ipv6 can be setup without issue on it's routeros.
    3. dd-wrt i don't think their having too big an issue to get it to work.
    4. tomato ipv6 have to go to putty to manually change ipv6 mtu. also there is issue with a delay (10minutes or so) to lease ipv6. Also it seems to add it to br0 not ppp0

    How do you authenticate with your ISP @Moogle Stiltzkin?
    If you use PPPoE, what happens with IPv6 if you reboot the router? For me I can't get IPv6 to work unless I connect the WAN cable to the router after the router has completely booted. If I let the router boot normally with WAN connected IPv6 will not work.

    I also get the MTU issue, and have put "nvram get wan_mtu > /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/br0/mtu" as a WAN up script to fix this.

    Did you paid for Tomato ? :)

    It will be a good case to compare with your situation, until now MTU is the common point... easy to solve, the rest will give more information.

    Hi Victek,

    I have a Cisco-Linksys E4200 v1 with version: 1.28.9013 MIPSR2-RAF-V1.2s K26 USB.
    When trying to upgrade to tomato-E4200USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.9013MIPSR2-RAF-Pro-V1.2w.bin I get the following error: "JFFS2 is currently in use. Since an upgrade may overwrite the JFFS2 partition, please backup the contents, disable JFFS2, then reboot the router". Never had this before and the JFFS2 is not enabled.
    I've seen your post in: http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?threads/tomato-raf-1-28-9013.63093/page-23#post-236195; but don't feel very confortable flashing the WRT54GL file as you mention in the instructions. Wanted to confirm that's the process or if I should use directly the tomato-E4200USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.9013MIPSR2-RAF-Pro-V1.2w.bin. Your instructions file mention that "ATENCION: ESTA UTILIDAD SOLO SIRVE PARA LOS MODELOS:
    WRT54G VERSION DE HARDWARE HASTA LA 4.1
    WRT54GL TODAS LAS VERSIONES
    WRT54GS HASTA LA VERSIÓN 4.1"
    So it's only valid for WRT54G/WRT54GL/WRT54GS...

    Also, will this process erase the NVRAM or I have to do it manually at a later stage?

    You was the one in the news climbing over all people to catch Xbox?... I read MS did out of stock, 1M Xbox sold in few hours... incredible ... :)

    Yes, I included some nice features for ipv6, qos for ipv6, now cleaning siproxd and one bug reported to my e.mail about nginx.... security patch for nginx applied, new window for ipv6 mtu, feature to change the login name added, 68'5 patches added to kernel... but testing ... there are many changes and I want to be almost sure I did not miss or break anything :)

    Enjoy!

    No exactly climbing over. But I stood in line at the Microsoft Store with a friend that was trying to buy one at midnight. I had mine much earlier in the month but couldn't talk about it due to my NDA.

    I can wait until you have most of the bugs works out...I understand that another release of DNSMASQ was put out over this week also. Toastman was talking about it. I hope we can land on a good working version of it along with your updates.

    Have a great weekend.

    Yes, He planned to release updated dnsmasq till Nov17 and I advice him to update to 2.68rc1 (as mine) ... don't know what he did finally ...
    I have no rush to release version.. 1.2v runs well.. My router is very happy to talk with 1.2v since some days and I'll let them some hours more...

    Same to you and all forum followers!
