    Shibby:

    You use wordpress for your website - there is a plugin for bug reports - easy to use, and really friendly GUI... I will post you a name. It would be better with bug tracker, this forum is good but not for reporting bugs and issues... Thats my opinion... I will PM you the name of plugin

    There are the plugins:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bug-library/
    or
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bugerator/

    I use bug-library... it is simple and easy to use bug tracker...

    or maybe if you dont like these two, try this one:
    http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wats/

    Or there is another way... special open source project for bug reports - The bug gennie or something like that.

    Please let us know about you opinion ;) It is only an idea

    I just downloaded and installed release 106 last night on my Linksys E3000 router. It seems to be working perfectly, including the PPTP client and the SMB filesharing. Great work!

    I have a Cisco IP phone on my network, and I'm planning on adding more. It draws its configuration from a TFTP server, which I have running on an Asterisk box. The address of the TFTP server can be specified as a DHCP option, either option 66 or option 150.

    Using the standard Linux dhcpd, this would be accomplished by adding something like 'option tftp-server-name "192.168.1.xxx";' to /etc/dhcpd.conf. Alternatively, a separate code could be defined like this:
    Code:
    option cisco-server-name code 66 = text;
    option cisco-server-name "192.168.1.xxx";
    Is there any good way to accomplish this in the router? I don't see dhcpd.conf there to edit, and don't want to start messing around with the filesystem without knowing what I'm doing.

    In v106 do not work UPnP. Tested in Vuze.
    List of ports is empty: Port Forwarding->UPnP/NAT-PMP->Forwarded Ports
    After returning to 105 UPnP work fine.

    @Shibby - as a follow-up to my previous message, both K26 MiniVPN builds are too big to fit 4MB routers.

    Based on the maximum image size for 4MB routers (3866624 bytes or 3776KB), the MIPS1 image is 64KB too big, while the MIPS2 one is 44KB too big. Going forward may I suggest that you remove UPnP from future MiniVPN builds?! That would save at least 87.5KB.

    3G modem support appears to be broken as well.
    v101 is well known to work perfectly.

    Shibby, please check 3G modem support and please include usb_modeswitch v1.25

    shibby, i think you forgot to change two files for QoS Prios (with up to 10 classes) --> see pkt_sched.h in linux-2.6 and linux folder

    #define TC_HTB_NUMPRIO 11 (right now you have 8)
    and
    #define TC_CBQ_MAXPRIO 11 (right now you have 8)

    I think, this means, only class 1 to 7 will work in v105/v106, right? what happens with class 8 and more? Toastman already changed that

    best regards

    P.S. can you push your latest changes to git? :)

    @Shibby: I don't know if you based your busybox 1.20.2 on my code or otherwise, but I had to apply these patches to modutils myself to fix 3G modem support. Otherwise the kernel modules were't loaded into memory.

    https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/commit/53b4b0dc396465cea4bbcaffe7c44b0df6e059f0 (that was for other issues caused by the upgrade to 1.20.2)
    https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin/commit/2152ef6eb9aac41064e69750185ef10b9ef0a749 (that's what fixed the 3G driver loading)

    @Thx RMerlin but i cannot use BB from your branch. BB for tomato has many changes for Tomato only. I had to port new BB myself. About 3G modem switch i made a type in switch3g script. It was LOCK=`/tmp/switch3g.lock` but should be LOCK="/tmp/switch3g.lock". Thats all ;)

    BTW RMerlin did you have problem with netmask in miniupnpd config file? When netmask is present as xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx then miniupnpd has pasing config file error and wont start. When i present netmask as bits format then all works fine. This make sense because in miniupnpd.conf default file we can read:
    I have a fix if you want.

    Miniupnpd is fixed and will be in v107.

    3G modem support i also fixed and will be also in v107.

    I didn't get any report of issues so far, tho the FW did generate a xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx formatted entry. I'll have to check if I have a miniupnpd patch applied that adds support for that format or something - I had no UPNP issues so far here.

    Shibby,

    It's great to hear you will be doing a bugfix release (107) before moving onto adding more features. I'm still on 105, and I'm holding off on 106 due to the bugs. Any idea when 107 might be released?

    probably tomorrow or day after day tomorrow. It`s compiling at the moment. Tree peoble tested v107 and all of them confirm there v107 is free of bugs. I made lots of changes, much more fixes and some of package was updated (like ntfs-3g update to 2013.1.13). But full changelog i will public with release v107. Good night :)

    I can't see any actual patch in Asuswrt, so I guess it mostly worked out of sheer luck so far (perhaps it treated it as a /25?). I'll add an ip2class() call in the config file generation so it will the class instead of an IP mask, that should take care of it.

  28. RMerlin

    RMerlin Network Guru Member

    Update: this is what I found in the code (in upnppermissions.c)

    Code:
    /* read_permission_line()
    * parse the a permission line which format is :
    * (deny|allow) [0-9]+(-[0-9]+) ip/mask [0-9]+(-[0-9]+)
    * ip/mask is either 192.168.1.1/24 or 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0
    */

    So it looks like both formats are supported. Do you also have that in your miniupnpd code?

  29. danb35

    danb35 Serious Server Member

    I've done a little more digging on my question, and I've found that the result I need can be accomplished by adding
    Code:
    dhcp-option=66,"192.168.xx.xxx"
    to /etc/dnsmasq.conf. How would I go about making this change persistent? I see that /etc is symlinked to /tmp/etc, and refreshes every time the router's rebooted (and, no doubt, whenever the DHCP configuration is modified).

  30. shibby20

    shibby20 Network Guru Member

    @RMerlin, yes i do but this was not working for me... Strange. It`s original function, not added by Tomato developers. Why in upnppermission.c file is
    * ip/mask is either 192.168.1.1/24 or 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0
    but in default miniupnpd.conf file is:
    # ip/mask format must be nn.nn.nn.nn/nn

    Nevermind. I probably find the reason, why it was not working for me :) For now i will use bit mask in config.
    Thanks.

    I think support for the dotted mask was added at some later point in miniupnpd. It's possible the author simply forgot to update the example config file.

    I know I should not be diluting this thread with my own personal problems, but my issue does not seem to be shared.

    I was using Shibby's firmware without issue for months. One day I tried to plug in a small usb hub and one of those cheap usb sound cards. Ever since then my Linksys e3200 has become unstable. Despite updates and 30-30-30 resets, most of the time when something is plugged into usb the 5ghz is down. If the usb comes loose (and is pushed back in again) the router will get very unreliable and streaming (from the HD) is much slower. Often for no reason optware will stop working and I am no longer able to use time machine.

    The strange thing is that not all these issues started happening at once, but rather the problems increased over time.

    Any assistance would be much appreciated.

    Did you also enable -O3 compiling for OpenVPN itself (not just OpenSSL)? I did a few benchmarks using iperf here with -Os (the old optimization) and -O3 (the new one). These were done using iperf through an OpenVPN tunnel running on my LAN:

    Code:
    iperf -c 10.16.0.1 -M 1400 -N -l 64K -t 30

    ===
    3.0.0.4.270.24:
    AES-128-CBC [152]  0.0-30.0 sec  69.9 MBytes  19.5 Mbits/sec

    ===
    3.0.0.4.270.25 (with openvpn + openssl + lzo -O3 optimization):
    AES-128-CBC [152]  0.0-30.0 sec  79.5 MBytes  22.2 Mbits/sec

    12% raw throughput increase is pretty nice :) Total space tradeoff was around 200 KB (after lzma compression).

    1st..thanks to Shibby for the continuous updates with Tomato. We are all blessed that these developers take their time to keep this great project alive.

    Now a question. This was in the changelog...

    - Add new miniVPN buildtype for router with 4MB flash

    Does anyone know if this is only openVPN or L2TP or both types of VPN?

    I would like L2TP on the mini MPSR2 version but don't want to upgrade a great functioning version 92 unless I get L2TP VPN access.

    Thank you for testing shibby.
    I encounter this problem on an asus wl330ge.
    When i install v107 K24 http&https local work okay,
    when i install v107 (or v106) and enable https i can no more log into web interface. i have tried quite all the versions and always with nvram erase.

    UPDATE:
    with version 104-k26 there is no problem for wl330ge http&https.
    the problem apppears only from v106-k26 and 107-k26.

    Sorry for being little off topic ! I was just wondering if I can install and run this https://github.com/daften/LastFM-for-Boxee python script on RT-N16 ... If yes please guide me on how to do this, I'll really appreciate it . Thanks .

    OK, so the improvements are cumulative to some degree? We get some VPN improvement with the new OpenSSL optimization options, and will get a little more when/if OpenVPN also gets the flags?

    I'll take any VPN boost we can squeeze out, and think any such improvements should absolutely be in the >8MB builds. I completely understand there have to be tradeoffs for the smaller builds (but I still want it all :) ).

    Strange, If were you I should first test to turn all L7 filter off.
    If that doesn't work do a "Erase all data in NVRAM memory (thorough)" reset and reboot, use only default settings and test.

    @Shibby, thanks again for the great FW. About conflict regarding "INPUT-CORE.KO", I was wondering if you could have that included in AIO build instead of figuring out how to remove conflict? I wish to upgrade to AIO build in the future.
    Dnscrypt-proxy have conflict downloading entware repositories, many repositories download brokens if enable. Disabling that, remove problem.

    ok, is it normal that I set HTTPS access but I cannot log in to the router after that? 192.168.1.1 it doesnt work anymore....

    edit: ok you have to write: https://192.168.1.1 after that it is working fine... I though it should recognise http/https adress automatically in browser, not to manualy add https... am I wrong?

    E3000 + v107-Big-VPN

    Upgraded from v106 to v107. Is a NVRAM erase required before and after the upgrade?
    UPnP is listed in iptables but does not show up in the status page.

    iptables -vnL
    Code:
    Chain upnp (1 references)
    pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination

    Anyone know where the Stealth Mode feature is for the RT VPN build (107). I have looked through all the menu and cannot find it. I have Asus RT-N16.

    can you comopike k26usb-nvram60k-e3000-rt-n-vpn?

    Upnp status does not work here either with whr-hp-g54 (tomato-ND-1.28.5x-107-SD-VPN.trx).

    P.S. Is it possible to try tomato-K26-1.28.RT-MIPSR1-107-MiniVPN.trx version without clearing nvram ?

    Rule of thumb, upgrade or downgrade FW with same modder will not brick your router. Take note, don't make mistake on MIPSR1 or MIPSR2, hard to unbrick. I was able to unbrick mine from wrong MIPSR2 usage instead of MIPSR1 by merely using 30-30-30 technique.

    @Shibby. usb camera is back on shown attached devices.Possible to have button that will release any locked USB? There is instance, usb harddisk music not detectable. I remedy this by unplugging usb harddisk cable from powered usb hub, shutdown router, power on router, and re-plug usb harddisk, then detection will follow.

    It is possible to upgrade from K24 to K26 without clearing nvram, but still that upnp status is not showing any port forwards. No I won't try to clean nvram.. no no no... nooooooooooooo... :D

    so dont cry that it is not working for you... clearing nvram is recommended and should be done after every update!!! I dont have any problems, so it is your fail

    I can't really agree with that. I don't hesitate to clear if anything in the changelog makes me wonder, or if any issues pop up. Always clear it if changing firmware sources or major build types.

    Otherwise, 95+% of the time it's just wasting time if moving from one recent revison to another of the same mod.

    Yep, my fail, but.. hey.. only port forward status.. .Just meaningless junk.. :) If portforwards wouldn't work at all, then I would try to clear nvram and make all those configurations from start to hope that helps.

    Just upgraded to tomato-K26USB-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-107-AIO.trx on an RT-N16.
    Enable UPnP <unticked>
    Enable NAT_PMP <ticked>
    but no longer forwarding ports in utorrent - get orange explanation mark rather than green tick on status bar.
    Reverted back to 105.1 and it's back working.
