    Linksys E4200 here. Can anyone please tell me what version is the most stripped down and simplified version? Kinda like how Toastman has a bare bones standard version. I was curious which Shibby version might be close.

    Shibby,

    Still wondering about the R7000, and the NTFS driver your using. Is it possible to see any improvement's with it? As it's current state writing to a USB3 drive, using your build results with poor transfer speed's. One other thing, have you had a chance to look into the high pings with ARM(R7000)? As I had to stop using 118 over this.

    Thanks for the new release Shibby!

    Is 6x wifi driver stable? I don't have time to test for another 3-4 days and 5x seemed faster? Don't know for sure though, did anyone test?

    BUG (tomato-K26USB-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-119-AIO-64K.trx)
    shibby20, when I change "Intercept DNS port (UDP 53)" I can't Save. I see something was added in the page, did that cause issues maybe? How do I change this setting via Telnet?

    SOLVED (temporarily)
    For now I solved the issue adding the router IP to the compatibility view settings of IE (that probably opens it as IE10) and it saved it, but Chrome 35 and IE 11 don't work (only that page doesn't save: routerip/advanced-dhcpdns.asp).

    @shibby20 were any of the R7000 issues reported fixed? Just wondering as you might consider them too small to put in changelog:

    • The AC band only working when set to SG,
    • Changing the multicast rate from Auto to something else and saving it, results in the rate returning to Auto when you leave the wireless settings page and come back to it.
    • Setting up a guest wireless network (vlan), and going to the status page, sometimes the guest wifi shows up in the page, sometimes it doesn't... Haven't been able to figure out any rhyme or reason why...
    • The MAC address on the wireless side
    • The config backup/restore.
    • Core speed on status page should be divided by two and rounded (RMerlin's post here)

    119 freshly installed over 118 without nvram erasing on my R7000.
    I noticed a 10db boost signal in both bands, good thing.
    but still no wifi leds and can't get ipv6 to go on wan.
    And seen nothing about beamforming.
    I come from DD-WRT from ages, and i'll stick with tomato now.

    Very good work.

    What would happen if I flashed tomato-RT-AC66U_RT-AC6x--119-AIO-64K.trx to my RT-N66U instead of tomato-RT-N66U_RT-AC6x--119-AIO-64K.trx?

    What's the actual difference between these 2 firmwares? I'm guessing it's probably just a wlan driver, but is there any functional reason why the AC66U firmware wouldn't work on the N66U?

    AC66 has nand flash, n66 had sflash. But n66 has internal sd card reader, ac66 doesnt. I cannot compile one firmware for those both routers

    Ok, so basically, the internal SD card reader wouldn't work, and it would brick the N66U to flash the AC66U firmware due to the flash being different. Good to know thanks!

    Hi Shibby or anyone who knows!

    I was looking at the possibility of getting your firmware working on a netgear R6300 v1. I found this post that seems to indicate it works by Shibby or someone posing as him. I figured it doesn't work since the R6300 isn't listed on the official router list but I thought I'd ask to see if anything has changed.

    Can anyone confirm if any of the K26RT-AC firmwares work or not on the R6300 v1? Thank you!

    This bug causes none of the settings on that page to be alterable. This problem appears to relate to a bug in the javascript for this page or related resources.

    fom.dnsmasq_strict_order.value = E('_f_dns_strict_order').checked ? '1' : '0';

    E('_f_dns_strict_order') is returning null.

    From Chrome JavaScript Console:
    1. Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'checked' of null advanced-dhcpdns.asp:70
      1. saveadvanced-dhcpdns.asp:70
      2. onclickadvanced-dhcpdns.asp:203

    Well that's kinda important...

    The problem appears to be a typo, the parameter that E() expects should have an additional '_' (underscore).

    E('__f_dns_strict_order') returns the valid object. There is some inconsistency in how those parameters are constructed, here is an excerpt:

    { title: 'Use internal DNS', name: 'f_dhcpd_dmdns', type: 'checkbox', value: nvram.dhcpd_dmdns == '1' },
    { title: 'Use received DNS with user-entered DNS', name: 'f_dns_addget', type: 'checkbox', value: nvram.dns_addget == '1' },
    { title: 'Resolve in Strict Order OR Non Resolve', name: '_f_dns_strict_order', type: 'checkbox', value: nvram.dnsmasq_strict_order == '1' },
    { title: 'Prevent DNS-rebind attacks', name: 'f_dns_norebind', type: 'checkbox', value: nvram.dns_norebind == '1' },
    { title: 'Intercept DNS port<br>(UDP 53)', name: 'f_dns_intcpt', type: 'checkbox', value: nvram.dns_intcpt == '1' },
    { title: 'Use user-entered gateway if WAN is disabled', name: 'f_dhcpd_gwmode', type: 'checkbox', value: nvram.dhcpd_gwmode == '1' },
    { title: 'Ignore DHCP requests from unknown devices', name: 'f_dhcpd_static_only', type: 'checkbox', value: nvram.dhcpd_static_only == '1' },

    Notice that "name: '_f_dns_strict_order'" has an extra underscore, while the others do not.

    I am using: tomato-Netgear-3500Lv2-K26USB-1.28.RT-N5x--119-AIO.chk in case that helps anyone. Is there a quick way I can fix it myself, or should I not bother and wait for a patch? I would like to change some other options in that page, but this error prevents save from working.

    That option was created then deprecated in favor of the dnscrypt priority option, so was removed in the other distro.

    Dear Shibby! First of all, I would like to thank you for the excellent firmware v.119 (VPN) router for AC66U. However, there is not a big mistake in section Advanced - DHCP/DNS settings changed - not saved.

    AC68U now on 119, with "CTF + ipv6 tunnel + pppoe wan", the old problem causing router hanging is gone, but now it simply can't access ipv6 websites like "ipv6.google.com". With CTF off, all ok.
    While trying accessing ipv6 sites, browsers tried and load for awhile and then an error page popping out saying "the connection was interrupted". I can ping these websites without problem.

    BTW, merlin's latest build also has exactly the same issue while ASUS's OFW doesn't. Furthermore, ASUS fix the "CTF + ipv6 tunnel + pppoe wan causing router reboot" issue in "3.0.0.4_374_5656" without changing the "ctf.ko"(binary same in 5656 and 5047 and previous several releases), which means they addressing this issue by modify some other parts.

    Could victek confirm this, please?

    Also have the no save issue (E3000, 119 VPN) in DHCP/DNS. (IE Compatibility View workaround is fine)

    Was curious about this note in changelog:

    - Comcast Fixes: DSCP and buffer overflow with GUI – thx lancethepants

    Is there a configuration option for this? With GUI, I figured that meant it was a config option in the GUI? Sorry I am new to Tomato.

    Thanks in advance.

    Also shibby this is really top notch, thanks for everything you do.

    Edit: also noticed going from 107 to 119, even though i selected Clear NVRAM, i had to do a manual NVRAM clear afterward, Ethernet ports were showing wrong speeds, also openssl version command was still in the system commands window. But manual clear worked great and I did notice a boost in performance compared to 107. But to be honest I only installed Tomato yesterday so... not to much experience with it.

    My Linksys WRT610N v2 just stopped working. I don't remember what version of Shibby's firmware it has. I installed it about a year ago and all was working good till today. I have already done the 30/30/30 reset but web-interface is still not accessible. I have set manually 192.168.1.10 IP on my PC and ping 192.168.1.1 and I got replies with TTL=252. What should I do next to unbrick my Linksys WRT610N v2? Power light is blinking.

    Hello, I'm having an issue with transmission on build 117 on an n66u. The issue is transmission starts using lots of cpu, and cannot get killed ("kill -9 #pid#" didn't work!).

    I would like to troubleshoot the problem, where would you recommend me to expand this issue?

    Thanks!

    Hello shibby, do you have any plans to revert this feature that was introduced in v114?

    [RELEASE] 114
    - Revert „rp-pppoe: added version 3.11″. Back to version 3.10. This should fix some problems with disconnecting PPPoE WAN.

    In other words, return to rp-pppoe v3.11 as Merlin has already done with ASUS-WRT?

    3.0.0.4.374.39 (31-Jan-2014)
    - CHANGED: Re-switched back to rp-pppoe 3.11 since nobody confirmed that 3.10 worked better for them.

    Thanks...

    With tomato-R7000-ARM-119-VPN-64K flashed onto the Netgear R7000, now getting @30Mb/s throughput over site-to-site secure TAP UDP OpenVPN tunnel which is much improved over ASUS RT-N66U throughput!;)

    Haven't seen it reported here but is it just me or is bandwidth monitoring not working/logging under tomato-R7000-ARM-119-VPN-64K!? I have confirmed all jacks in the right spots (Utopia FTTH gateway connected to WAN port of R7000)

    Interesting. Which build was this reverted to? (I jumped from v117 to v119 and didn't notice any change).

    While we are at it, could you update the snmpd to a more recent version? it's NET-SNMP version: 5.0.9. I'm facing a problem where it doesn't show the ppp device as up even though it's up and working:

    Shibby20, are you marking packets that go through port forwarding to force them into bypassing CTF? Asus does this by marking them with 0x01. The kernel will then flag for CTF_BYPASS any packet that is marked with a value.

    PERMANENT FIX: (somewhat...)

    Hey guys,

    Since I don't have Windows and access to IE, I figured this would be a more *permanent* solution until there's a bugfix release. It's pretty safe even between upgrades as it does checks for the improper '_f_dns_strict_order' key.

    1.) Administration > Scripts.
    2.) Paste the following into: INIT

    grep -q "name: '_f_dns_strict_order'" /www/advanced-dhcpdns.asp &&
    sed -e "s/name: '_f_dns_strict_order'/name: 'f_dns_strict_order'/g" /www/advanced-dhcpdns.asp > /tmp/advanced-dhcpdns.asp &&
    mount --bind /tmp/advanced-dhcpdns.asp /www/advanced-dhcpdns.asp

    3.) Reboot

    A little hacky, I know but it gets the job done. Hope it helps you guys!

    If I enable "Custom Log File Path" in Administration -> Logging

    If I disable "Custom Log File Path" the logging works again.

    I seem to be having a strange issue with my e3200 that has carried into 119, with the bandwidth limiter enabled - the 5ghz radio does not load. does anyone else experience this?

    to be clearer, in the logs I see DBUS is down, and the USB radio does not load 'bcm_rpc_tp_attach' fails, this is the block from the log every time it happens :

    I have USB support enabled and an 8 gig usb drive attached, which i use to capture logging and c_stats/r_stats.

    I have the openvpn client set to run at startup

    I have access restriction setup, 4 time-based block internet rules; and 2 all day, every day rules blocking keywords/domains

    I also have the samba server running, sharing a directory on the USB drive.

    i'm not sure what interactions there are, between services client/servers, etc. but this issue has followed me from 115 to 119, and sometimes multiple reboots will fix it, other times i have to clear the nvram and manually reconfigure to get the 5ghz radio to load.

    any takers :)

    Shibby what tls-ciphers are available in openvpn in version 117? I am trying to use "TLS-DHE-RSA-WITH-AES-256-CBC-SHA256" but it doesn't seem to be available.

    Updated to 119 from 117 (without NVRAM erase)

    Whenever I set up a WEB access restriction rule this error apears (also in BASIC/IPV6). If the rule is block all internet access, then it's OK.

    ip6tables-restore v1.3.8: Couldn't load match `web':File not found

    Error occurred at line: 49
    Try `ip6tables-restore -h' or 'ip6tables-restore --help' for more information.

    I don't have the time to reset everything so it would be helpfull to fix it somehow in another way.

    Not sure if this is the same/related issue or not. I have the bug were the Advanced->DHCP/DNS page will not save.

    I have my previous setttings (from 117) still in there, and was trying to get DNSCrypt working. In the process I have now noticed that with DNSCrypt On or Off, OpenDNS test page shows as not using OpenDNS. The overview page shows the OpenDNS IP's and everything I look at all show it should be working, but its not.

    Can't do much more untill the save button is fixed as well as I cannot change settings there.

    A little update on that issue. Disabling DNSSEC and DNSCrypt Proxy, the WAN reconnects, after which for about 30 sec OpenDNS welcome page reports as working. After 30sec or so it then goes back to not working again, without further changes to the router.

    PS: Also noticed that my OpenDNS accounts Requests Stats have plumeted to nearly zero since I updated to 119

    Ah ok. Got it working had to check the usb 1.1 support inside the router firmware. Still not sure why anyone would want to plug the apc into the router, when the purpose of plugging the apc's usb into the computer is to get the apc to shut down the computer when the apc is low on power.

    Ah, I had to enable USB 1.1 Support (OHCI only, UHCI was not selectable).
    I also had to uncheck "USB 3G Modem support" for this to work.

    I noticed this too. Even Bandwidth Limiter doesn't work if Captive portal is on. I think that those 3 features have a problem "living" together, so it is Bandwidth limiter or Captive portal or Iptables scripts (but I would really like to use the 3 of them).

    I tried a 2.6 kernel years ago. They work but peg the CPU usage and are slower in interface response. Stick with 2.4 if you have a 200-240 MHz Broadcom CPU.

    The first listed (AIO-64) is for routers that have 64KB of NVRAM space, the second is the same feature-set but for routers supporting 32KB of NVRAM. The first build should work with your RT-N66U.

    Hi All,
    I am on RT-AC66U running 1.28.0000 MIPSR2-112 K26 USB AIO-64K firmware. The problem is that I am unable to forward ports to my new Sony Playstation 4 (PS4). Not DMZ, not forwarding rules for related ports, not UPnP, nothing helps. I am always getting NAT type 3 in my console (too restrictive). When I connect console to modem directly all functioning well. The questions are: did someone heard about such problem and maybe about solution, and, if there is a way to write firewall script ensuring DMZ to a single IP?
    Best,

    Shibby, thank you for bringing Tomato to the R7000. The OpenVPN client is running strong and VPN speed is strong and stable. So far, I only needed to restart for FW updates (on 119 now) or due to change of settings.

    It would be great to enable some sort of temperature check for the CPU. Merlin and DD-WRT display it on the status pages. I am running the R7000 currently at 1400 Mhz and would prefer to keep an eye on the CPU temp. When I use cat /proc/dmu/temperature under system commands it does not display anything.

    I also have issues logging into the R7000 via Telnet since Tomato is flashed on it. Before, on DD_WRT or Merlin it works. Now on Tomato I get to the login and it tells me "login incorrect". I am using the same pw as for the web gui and there it works. What am I doing wrong? Telnet is enabled.
    Trying 192.168.123.1...
    Connected to...
    Escape character is '^]'.
    router login: admin
    Password:
    Login incorrect

    I know I am using the same pw. Using Terminal on the Mac. Oh, does this need to be through wired connection?

    Last, but not least, many people seem to over clock the AC56U, AC68U, or the R7000. I recall from my E3000 days there was actually a drop down menu in the admin section to change the CPU clock speed from 480 to 532 or something like that. It seems the AC56U/68U can easily handle the 1000Mhz and the R7000 passes all kinds of tests at 1200. We don't want to get you a lot of emails from people who fried their boxes by enabling crazy speeds, but if some settings are "safe" then this could be convenient in the future.

    Otherwise great stuff. Missing the QoS for now but it was already worth the switch.

    I am running the OpenVPN client for all incoming and outgoing connections. With the encryption, I had trouble with some SIP accounts on the OBI202 SIP adapter. Last time I tried on the N66U before I changed my network and the routers 10 times I could not get Tomato to exclude the SIP adapter. What would be the best approach?

    I thought static DHCP for the OBI and placing that IP in the DMZ on Tomato would do the trick but somehow it did not. Before I try this gain now with the R7000, any other things I would need to do? Port forwarding? Some firewall rules to explode the SIP traffic from the VPN etc? Or should DMZ be good enough? Maybe the SIP provider just blocked the PIA IP address before, who knows?

    I believe I have the 6x drivers on the R7000 release and I have no issues so far:
    Tomato Firmware 1.28.0000 -119 K26ARM USB AIO-64K
    Linux kernel 2.6.36.4brcmarm and Broadcom Wireless Driver 6.37.14.86 (r456083)

    That said, it's only been out for 2-3 weeks and I restarted once for a fw update and once for some changes. Current uptime close to 6 days, 3 Mac laptops, 3 iPhones, and 2 iPads on WLAN. But I am also using a second router N66U as AP with Merlin installed. All devices access both areas of the place, and if something is not working, I usually hear about it rather quickly...

    That may well be the case, or they are blocking incoming ports... I also had issues with this, though it's obviously not really Tomato related. Being able to exclude certain devices from the VPN would be useful though I'm not sure how to easily do it.

    I am trying to decide if Tomato ARM (on R7000 / RT-AC68U / RT-AC56U) is stable enough for a production environment.

    What's the most stable and fastest Tomato hardware? I know that RT-N16 has been extensively tested (had two but died). I currently have a RT-AC66U running on Shibby v117 (seems very solid).
