I asked this very same question recently. If enough people ask I'm sure shibby will add it :)

I've gone through that post but the link posted by shibby20 for built-in nfs is dead & at the same time I would like to keep Transmission BT as well as NFS server on the router. My main concern for using NFS is streaming over the network to my BoxeeBox as SMB is too slow and most of the times movies buffer every other minute. Or if there are any settings to increase the SMB speed in Tomato firmware, can someone please look into it and get me going. I will really appreciate that.

    @Shibby
Does your build mipsr2 075-AIO include fix for the nf-conntrack rtsp helper module ?

  9. molnart

    molnart Networkin' Nut Member

Thanks for the penguin logo shibby :D

Is there any further info available on this? Any reason this is not included in the AIO build? Also, i doesnt really understand its purpose, as i can connect an SDHC card to my router anytime with an adapter like this http://www1.dealextreme.com/productimages/sku_21818_1.jpg (i am not saying its an useless feature, i just dont know how to use it).

  10. GhaladReam

    GhaladReam Network Guru Member

There wouldn't be any point to include SDHC support in the k2.6 builds.. AFAIK all k2.6-compatible routers have USB anyway. This addon is probably for people who have manually added an SD card slot to their MIPSR1 k2.4 router

P.S. Thanks for another new version shibby, seems to be running well! Unfortunately miniDLNA has not been fixed yet (PS3 issues) grrr! Oh well, that's miniDLNA's fault.

I just wanted to point out the "about" page of Toastman's additions, to get an idea of what could be added:

    - 250 entry limit in Static DHCP & Wireless Filter
    - 500 entry limit in Access Restriction rules
    - Up to 80 QOS Rules
    - IMQ Based QOS/Bandwidth Limiter
    - Configurable QOS Class Names
    - Comprehensive QOS rule examples set by default
    - Extra Themes

Not 100% sure if some of these are already implemented in your branch shibby, but I would LOVE to see these added to at least the AIO build (if it won't fit anywhere else). Have you though about it yet? :)

  12. shibby20

    shibby20 Network Guru Member

@kthaddock - yes, nf-conntrack rtsp helper module is fixed in all k26 builds

@molnart - you welcome ;) SDHC is only for old WRT54G/gl/gs routers with hardware SD-MOD. No need to include this feature into AIO build.

@GhaladReam - many of limits are already increased (static dhcp). QOS Class Names and rules i will try include in next release.

    @shibby
I have used this bulid, 075-AIO in one of my RT-N16 and it's working just FINE. BW, Static ip, BW monitor, Client monitor and some other settings. "I can watch qos-graphs by firefox" I never have problem with that, I alwas seen that graph".

Strange after a while using Web Monitor it's not show "Recently Visited Web Sites" and "Recent Web Searches" any more. (build 075-aio)
Is't any start/stop commands I can test to get this working? Same behave is in toastman 7483-nocat build.
Sometimes I can get it to work agian do reboot and turn webmon on/off but not always it's working with that.
This happend when I put rules in firewall scipt and reboot

    Iptable before reboot:
    Code:
    :monitor - [0:0]
    -A FORWARD -o vlan2 -j monitor
    -A monitor -p tcp -m webmon --max_domains 300 --max_searches 300 --domain_load_file /var/webmon/domain --clear_search -j RETURN
    :wanin - [0:0]
    :wanout - [0:0]
    -A FORWARD -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT
    -A FORWARD -i vlan2 -j wanin
    -A FORWARD -o vlan2 -j wanout
    -A FORWARD -i br0 -o vlan2 -j ACCEPT
    iptable after reboot:
    Code:
    :monitor - [0:0]
    -A FORWARD -o vlan2 -j monitor
    -A monitor -p tcp -m webmon --max_domains 300 --max_searches 300 --domain_load_file /var/webmon/domain --search_load_file /var/webmon/search -j RETURN
    :wanin - [0:0]
    :wanout - [0:0]
    -A FORWARD -m state --state RELATED,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT
    -A FORWARD -i vlan2 -j wanin
    -A FORWARD -o vlan2 -j wanout
    -A FORWARD -i br0 -o vlan2 -j ACCEPT
This is missing after you have put firewall rules and reboot:

    Thanks for the update Shibby.

If I will upgrade from the 062.AIO version to this new 076V.AIO what gonna will happen with my torrents?
I'm using the integrated transmisson client, and the setting is saved to my USB hard drive torrent directory. (blocklist, resume, torrents, stats.json, settings.json)
The new version will continue seeding these torrents, or I have to add them one by one with verify local data option?

  35. kthaddock

I'm using 076V-nocat for a while and realy satisfied with it. :p

    I suggest some improvement:

    - Wifi driver update 5.100.138.9
    - Ftp user accounts path settings
    - Samba name and comment settings by user, jffs, sda1,sdb1 and sdc1
    - Improved limit connection attempts, logging attacking ip-number and block that for awhile
    - Multi ssid (i know it's in process)
    - ?

  36. shibby20

    shibby20 Network Guru Member

i cant merge tomato-RT-N into my branch because current tomato-RT-N version doesn`t support MIPS1 routers! i`m thinking about create new branch tomato-shibby-N (tomato-shibby + tomato-RT-N). I have now Asus RT-N10U and it works only with driver 5.100.138.9, well we will see :)

Ftp user accounts path settings will be in next update

Multi SSID - hmm not yet i think.

Shibby, a somewhat hypothetical question regarding wrt610v2. I am getting a used WRT610Nv2 as backup to my main E3000 router. I am aware not to use E3000 firmware on the WRT610Nv2.

My question is what if I accidently flash it with E3000 firmware? Would I brick it? Or would it load up the E3000 firmware to allow me to re-flash it to the correct firmware? They both look so darn similar, I am just afraid that this hypothetical question may be a reality for me sooner rather later.

    Thanks in advance.

    shibby20 Network Guru Member

If you try install firmware e3000 on wrt610v2 you will brick router.

If you really want mod wrt into e3000 you have to change cfe first. You can find tutorial.

I've just upgraded from 062 to 076V (RT-N16 AIO) and everything works fine. It kept all of my torrents, and also the Samba file sharing is way faster. (approx. 6-7 Mbyte/sec instead of 4Mbyte/sec in the 062 version)

So I highly recommend this update to everyone. :)
    -------
Shibby does it possible to include a simple PPTP VPN option in the GUI? I think it's would be a useful feature, as lot of people using Android or IOS phones, tablets, and these devices could use this simple VPN option on the open wireless networks.

    Hi shibby20.

May I just ask for confirmation regarding which of your builds would be best for my Asus WL-500GPv2. I'd like IPv6, the torrent client and support for dual access. I'm currently using Victek tomato-K26USB-1.28.9006MIPSR1_RAF-VPN-NOCAT, but I don't really need VPN support.

    Thanks for your help

Don't see any AIO builds for E3000... I don't need to upgrade right now, but hope you won't be discontinuing them!!

  51. shibby20

@occamsrazor - E3000 has 8MB flash. You souldn`t use AIO. AIO build is only for router with more than 8Mb flash (E4200 or RT-N16). I will not compile AIO for E3000.

@kthaddock - no, it still is old driver. Version with driver 5.100 from RT-N branch i will compile (tomorrow) only for E4200 and RT-N10U at the moment.

I don't need NFS. I guess I'll give the new Mega-VPN a try... Out of interest what's the problem with AIO on E3000? Just space? Because the last one was 7.7mb... that should be OK on 8MB router, no?

  57. shibby20

    shibby20 Network Guru Member

    8MB - 256K cfe - 128K cfg = ~7,7MB for image.

AIO for E4200 has already 8MB.

but my stick: T-mobile webNwalk Stick (Qualcomm 3G CDMA Model:GI0225) isnt working either.
does it need the HSO module? If yes, can you add it?

@citygot - till shibby fixes the support for HSO modem you can use dd-wrt - i noticed they already support your device.
or if you are an advanced user - compile your own openwrt with all needed modules.

About a week ago, I upgraded from 070V-AIO to 079V-AIO. Everything went fine during upgrading process and I thought that it's a fast and stable release, but it isn't. I've noticed that, after I started to download torrents from various trackers, but I thought after a restart everything is going back to normal. It wasn't!
I have numerous speed spikes, that means istead of having 10-11MB/s constantly, that speed is down to 100-500Kbps in seconds and is not because I have a low number of seeders and peers but because is something firmware related. Same spikes happened when I try to play movies from the HDD attached to my Asus RT N16, but not the same thing happened when I play movies from the HDD attached directly to my media player HiMedia.
Let me be more clear, a HD 720p.mkv movie played with a media player from network attached storage produces 1-2 seconds freezes every 1-3 min., but same movie played directly fom HDD, with the same media player, have no issue at all.
Is there anyone that have this strange issue?

Sorry, I thought it's about router's configuration...No, I have no green power settings or anything like that, and I have no reason to make my LAN network to work in 100Mbp/s, I need to be gigabit. I'm editing video materials and I need speed through my little network (3 PC's and a media player). This little issue started when I upgraded from 070V-AIO to 079V-AIO.

If you have USB port on your router, you can install Tomato Optware Package wich contains rtorrent, but, I can tell you from my experience, Transmission is by far, the best
torrent client for routers. However, you can install either rtorrent or Transmission.

I also would like to give some feedback about my experiences with this firmware.
    3 working setups with Netgear 3500L & 1 with Asus RT-N16

-After installing different versions from 062-075 I found the following problems. (approx. 2TB BT traffic, 60/6mbit/sec netspeed)
-The integrated Transmission sometimes freezing, specially when i have two or more simultaneous download. In this case the keep alive function not working, Transission becomes unreachable. I have to log in, and press the save settings button in the bit torrent setup page to restart Transmission.
-If I install transmission from Optware, and use the webconfig with the correct binary path, everything is working fine.

-As I upgrade to higher versions, I have more and more wifi connection drops, which means that the wifi connection just disconnects randomly, and then immediately connects back. Can be noticed over MSN chats, and using online TV streams. The laptops which have these problems, works flawlessly with Linksys WRT54GL router and the standard (polarcloud) Tomato versions, both of them using Intel wifi cards. (3945AGB and 5100)

Everything else working fine for me, these are just some long term feedbacks/experiences not complaints, I really like these mods. :)

    @Shibby
I have noticed that build 079V-AIO sometimes restart and I can find this in my logg:
Nov 3 23:49:48 NAME user.info syslog: SNet version started
    Nov 3 23:49:51 NAME cron.err crond[550]: time disparity of 22006009 minutes detected
EDIT: Nov 10 00:17:34 NAME cron.err crond[553]: time disparity of 22014676 minutes detected
This happend when I download with wi-fi either to PS-3 or some torren download

Seems that router restarted and time update doesn't work, this working only take awhile

Shibby's Tomato firmware from build 062-76V, in four router configs (Netgear 3500L, Asus RT-N16) with Transmission installed through Optware. All of them working rock stable. :)

Slight bug, not sure if it's unique to your build or not but in qos-classify.asp if you click on the number side JS throws an error saying C is undefined. Using: tomato-K26USB-1.28.905xRAF-EN-MIPSR2-079V-AIO.trx

    Using Aurora (FireFox).

    Hi Shibby.

Last time I downloaded your build I was directed to the

    tomato-K26USB-1.28.905xRAF-EN-MIPSR1-079V-Mega-VPN

for my Asus WL500GPv2. I've just looked at the new release and it appears the names have changed? Is the equivalent of the aforementioned build now

    tomato-K26USB-1.28.RT5x-MIPSR1-082V-Mega-VPN?

Also, I have a question regarding the firewall, as something appears to have changed in my configuration and I can't work out what. A couple of weeks ago a ran a port scan against the router from shields-up. As with past scans the result was shown as 'stealthed'. I just ran another scan and now I have several ports showing as closed. The ports are:

    111 - sunrpc
    135 - rpc/epmap
    139 - Netbios Session service
    199 - smux
    445 - MSDS

I'm not overly concerned these are showing as closed but I'd like to know why things may have changed. I don't allow any remote administration and all of those options are disabled. Is there a way to simply 'reset' the firewall?

    Many thanks

A quick feedback to say everything* works as per normal with 82v bt-vpn on my E3000. Just as it did on 79v bt-vpn.

Thanks Shibby. As well as the bunch of guys that make my router the envy of my IT geek friends :)

    * Everything for me includes: PPPoE, DHCP, Wifi/2.4Ghz/wpa2/mac filter, DDNS, bandwidth limiter, access restriction, ftp & smb server, adblocking. Not tried bt-client yet on 82V.

    Hi shibby20,
I noticed that you use a special version of your Tomato firmware (Tomato v1.28 k26usb build5x-077V Private), wich is not available on your Directory list. I was wonder, what is so special and why is not public? I also noticed that when I try to write something on HDD that is atached on my router Asus RT-N16, the maximum speed I get is around 9 MB/s, and when I try to read from it, I only get 4-4.5 MB/s and the question is, why we cannot obtain speed rates that is near gigabit? I know that is a noob question but...is only a question. However, a while ago, I used to use Victek's Tomato and the speed rates I get was 11,8-12,0 MB/s write on HDD, 5,8-6,0 MB/s read from HDD. Anyway, thank's for your hard work and for your answers.

Shibby I've been trying to connect to NFS using a Mac 10.7 Lion.
Every single command I type in gives me a permission denied error. Yes I am using sudo.
I have added my clients IP address to the /etc/hosts file

    Here is my

    /etc/exports file,
Do you have any idea how I can connect from a mac to NFS?

@koji - my private version its build created for me. I dont need ntfs, hfs, cifs, but need transmission, bw limiter. Well i made build include features which i need and removed unused by me. Nothing special :)

shibby20, I was trying to mount a NFS share using mount.nfs, but I'm unable to do that. Please explain how exactly I should be doing it.
So far I telnet into my router, then type mount.nfs directory path of nfs share 192.168.2.215 -w and I get the error mountpoint doesn't exist !! 192.168.2.215 is NFS share/server on WD Mybook Live.
I'll really appreciate if you or anyone can help :)
