Just checking as I'm playing with Shibby's this morning. USB lights are not correct?

I have USB 3 attached, it works great, no issue other than light not on.

Edit: Actually looks like USB 2 LED on when accessing the USB 3 attached drive.

Not a big deal, just checking to make sure that is the current state of affairs regarding the USB LED's.

I'm okay with then not working as long as I know that's "normal". I don't look at the LED's in terms of normal day to day usage. Just checking since I moved from RMerlin's to Shibby's today. There's a thread here somewhere about LED's fix and patches.....

Edit: Playing with Advanced Tomato built on Shibby. Same thing. USB2 LED on when device is attached to USB 3.

Well after years of sterling Shibby service I've decided to replace my RT-N16 with an RT-AC68U, and am very impressed with it. With my 150\12 cable I'm easily getting 95Mbps wireless download on the latest Asus stock firmware. The only issue I've found is that with Shibby 132 AIO build I can't get more than 30Mbps. It's slower than the RT-N16 with the 132 MEGA_VPN version.

What am I missing? Are there different defaults between the versions? Any help gratefully received.

I'd suggest you remove wireless from the picture -- test a wired connection to determine if the speed issue is specific to wireless or not.

If it's specific to wireless, then the possibilities are many, and very difficult to rule out -- we know literally nothing about the wireless spectrum in your environment, and (respectfully) you haven't provided any actual details about what you're using (WEP vs. WPA vs. WPA2, AES vs. TKIP, have you tweaked any advanced wireless settings at all, if so what did you tweak, etc.). This is purely anecdotal in the sense that it fixed my problems in my own environment, but I had to enable interference mitigation with a very specific setting to achieve acceptable wifi speeds (on an RT-N66U, 2.4GHz, WPA2 AES). Again: this is what I had to do for my environment and it may not be relevant to you or not.

If it's not specific to wireless, then there are still many possibilities but somewhat easier to narrow down. I could pull down a lot more than 30mbit/s on a wired connection when I was using an RT-N16 (I'm using an RT-N66U now). You could alternately try Toastman's firmware and see if the problem goes away for you (don't forget to do a full NVRAM erase afterwards). Sometimes the reason for slow network I/O is people screwing around with custom firewall rules that eat up a lot of CPU, use router-based VPNs, or other such things. The usual reason the Asus firmware performs better is because they use the fast NAT kernel module, which bypasses a substantial portion of the networking stack, but in turn many features that make Tomato appealing no longer work, or break.

I have a Netgear R7000 but I'm having a problem with portforward for my VOIP service.
I enter the info into the portforward settings, save and even reboot but I cannot get my VOIP to register.
On an Asus RT-AC66U I have displayed all the iptables and can see the entry in the Chain wanin section.
On the R7000 there is no mention of the port or destination IP anywhere.
Does anyone have any idea how to get this to "stick"
    Oops, forgot release: running 132.

i just downloaded the latest version K26ARM/132/tomato-R7000-ARM--132-AIO-64K.zip
to flash my Netgear R7000 from tomato.groov.pl
but there's no initial.chk file in the zip file.

Do we not still need it for flashing tomato to netgear R7000 anymore?

Thanks koitsu for the detailed response and suggestions. I didn't want to post a raft of settings if there was a simple solution, but it looks like there isn't, but I'll certianly try messing with the "Interference Mitigation" setting. Also, your last sentance is very interesting..

For info, the LAN to WAN speeds are fine, I'm using WPA2\AES, no custom firewall settings, no VPN, and the wireless settings are the same as on the RT-N16.

It looks like I have more experimenting to do :). Thanks again for replying and I'll report back with any relevant findings.

    Can someone help me?

Bug: with tomato-shibby-RT-AC, firmware being used on an Asus RT-N66U, the Netgear/Tenda-specific /sbin/blink_5g daemon will be run regardless of the fact that it isn't necessary or even used/needed on that model of router.

Effect: blink_5g (confirmed), or possibly even blink (couldn't confirm), may be running on a non-Netgear/non-Tenda router, wasting a small amount of memory and doing "who knows what" to the underlying system (hard to say because I haven't looked into how the actual LEDs are managed, i.e. through I2C or what). Worst-case scenario is that the are I2C accesses happening (writes) to slave addresses that have other (non-LED) devices listening, which could cause erroneous system behaviour. (I have quite a bit of familiarity with SMBus/I2C)

Longevity: issue introduced in March 2015.

Impact scope: only applies to users running tomato-shibby-RT-AC as of this writing. tomato-shibby, Toastman, etc. are not impacted by this bug.

    Analysis: http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?threads/what-is-sbin-blink_5g-and-sbin-blink.72130/#post-271085

Fix: none known at this time. I'm not even sure how to go about fixing this properly, but odds are Shibby would have some ideas.

Workaround: killall -q -r '(blink|blink_5g)$' on non-Netgear/non-Tenda routers. This could be placed in Scripts -> Init. However, it's very possible that a "Save" in the GUI that restarts services could restart one or more of these -- I simply do not know.

I would like to see an option under "Basic, Static DHCP/ARP/IPT" section to define DNS server(s) for each MAC address.

This currently can only be accomplished manually by entering custom dnsmasq statements in "Advanced, DHCP/DNS" such as:
    Code:
    dhcp-mac=set:opendns,01:02:03:0A:0B:0D
    dhcp-option=tag:opendns,option:dns-server,208.67.222.222,208.67.220.220

Another cleaner method would be to add an option to define tags in the Static DHCP section and then be able to assign DNS servers per tag somewhere else.

If this is not the best place to submit feature requests, please let me know!

    Thanks!

I am using a RT-AC56U and the ac mode is not working. It defaults to 40mhz even though I select 80mhz and the max speed is 200mbps using a lg g2. Is this a bug because with stock firmware I can get ac speeds? Also you cant select the channel once you set it to 80mhz . I need to set it to channel 36 because my fire tv stick wont connect to high channels.

I suppose this has been asked before, but unfortunately I have been unable to find an answer.
Is there a feature matrix which explains the differences between the builds that are available?
I am looking for an E3000 firmware and therefore I would like to understand the difference between:
    • tomato-E3000USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-132-Big-VPN.zip
    • tomato-E3000USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-132-BT-VPN.zip

    • tomato-E3000USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-132-Nocat-VPN.zip
    • tomato-E3000USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-132-Tor-VPN.zip
    • tomato-E3000USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-132-VPN.zip
    Any idea where to look?

as a general observation: tomato development does not typically add problems, but solves them and updates protocols, drivers, etc. in gneral, the latest build does not deteriorate performance compared to older ones, nor introduce new problems. (this is in stark contrst to dd-wrt, for which there is sometimes an almost-magical-too complicated for most to figure out- model-specific best build.
so use the latest build (currently v132).

Okay, to be clear, my specific router model doesn't require a particular version of the tomato firmware? The reason I ask is because I think as far as I recall under dd-wrt they had a completely separate version specifically for this exact model of router. And I just don't want to bork this router.

I don't think you are looking at the actual download pages. There are specific builds for a variety of routers. Yours may or not be included, since you didn't mention its make or model.

Edit:Sorry, but I did not see your original post mentioning your e1500. Toastman is, of course, correct. You might want to take a look at his version of TomatoUSB as well. For Shibby, your router is listed at http://tomato.groov.pl/download/K26RT-N/build5x-132-EN/Linksys E-series/

    Hi, I’m running Shibby’s v132 AIO on R7000.
When I put my PlayStation 4 into DMZ for open NAT type gaming, and then the Tomato FTP and PPTP both server failed. the DMZ seem have collision with FTP and PPTP, so I disable DMZ.
Now I enable the UPnP to get an open NAT type on PS4 work fine. I have using miniupnpd custom configuration, Input syntax to deny all devices internal IP, but except the PS4.

    Regarding: Wireless Ethernet Bridge

    I have 2 Hotspot devices;
    * T-mobile (ZTE)
    * Boot Mobile (Netgear)

    Using Shibby builds, is it possible to;
configure (2) wireless 2.4 GHz "wireless eternet bridge" connections
so I can use both wireless hotspot devices at once (multi wan ?).
    e.g. eth1, eth2

Shibby builds work beautifully connecting to either hotspot individually.

Have someone managed to make the 3G usb dongle Huawei E3131s-2 work with Tomato by Shibby.
I'm having trouble making it work (more info here).

@shibby20 : on your website it says that you added support for this 3G dongle on release 102, but it seems it is not working on RT-N16 with release AIO 120 or on R7000 with release AIO MultiWan 132.

    Hi,

To replace my RT-N16, I just got an Asus RT-AC66U and installed shibby AIO build 132. Got everything working perfectly after doing all the erase NVRAM tricks etc.

However, unlike my RT-N16, the Routing Policy setting for my VPN doesn't appear to be working. I have one IP on my LAN that is supposed to go through the VPN, and everything else not. However, despite the Routing Policy rule for that IP being exactly the same on my new router as my old router, now everything is going through the VPN, not just that one IP.

Anyone else run into this problem?

*** EDIT ***: Solved my own problem. In Advanced tab I had "Redirect Gateway" checked. I unchecked it, then that revealed "Ignore Redirect Gateway", which was the thing that should be checked. Once I checked that box, all worked perfect. We now return you to your regularly scheduled shibby discussion :)

One thing I do notice in looking at the logs: a line that reads:
    Feb 7 22:48:24 router user.err syslog: module xt_web not found in modules.dep

Not sure what that line means...?

    Hey guys,

I am new here and need some help. I recently (about 3 months ago) purchased a flashrouter from Flashrouters that came pre-configured to be used as a second router than my ISP router. It came with Tomato Shibby's firmware version 1.28 and thats what its currently at. I wanted this so I could have my cable modem connected to my ISP router, and then my Tomato Flashrouter which is an Asus RT-AC56U to be connected out of my ISP router and setup preconfigured with my VPN provider.

Everything was working for 3 months, until I recently hit the reset button on the router causing it to loose all my settings. I have been trying to get things back the way they were for days now and I am getting so frustrated. I was able to get the VPN info back installed on the router, but it only works when the cable modem is plugged directly into the flash router WAN port. If I try to do:

Cable Modem > ISP Router WAN > Ethernet to WAN of Flashrouter > Ethernet port of flash router to PC it doesn't work. From my understanding I have to change several things. My ISP router has the default IP of 192.168.1.1 so I know the flash router has to be different. I changed it to 192.168.1.5 but I still can't get things working. I don't know how to setup this bridge mode or whatever to get what I want working. Can anyone help me I am desperate!!!

    Thanks

Should I not be concerned about this?

I have noticed that Web Usage doesn't update on a regular basis. I activate Web Monitor and right away it works but then somewhere during the day it quits recording. For example... 2 days ago I turned it on and it seemed to be working. I checking it last night around 6pm and it's last log was 8:50am. This is happening on my Netgear R6250, and it also happened on my Netgear 3500L and 3500Lv2 last year.

    Bug Report
    Firmware: tomato-RT-AC68U-ARM--132-AIO-64K
Issue: 5Ghz radio channel width changes to 20Mhz after enabling/disabling or changing the password for a virtual wireless interface. e.g. I set the channel width to 80Mhz, change the password for the virtual wireless interface, and afterwards I find that the channel width has changed to 20Mhz.

As a sidenote, does anyone know if Shibby's Bugs Report page is still in use? Seems abandoned with a lot of spam posts to it so I'm assuming not.

I wonder why you are going for this complicated setup. Is there any reason for still using your ISP's routers (that's usually crap anyway)?

For running your Tomato router behind another router you need to got to "Basic->Network".
There at WAN/Internet set it to "static". As gateway use the IP of your ISP-Router and as IP use any other IP in the same subnet (Thats just changing the last triplet). Subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0 then.

As static DNS input the IP of your ISP-Router or your provider's DNS-Adress, or OpenDNS(208.67.222.222), or Google DNS(8.8.8.8), whatever you like (Google often is much faster, but they are spying on you of course...)

This configuration should be working for standard needs.

not sure if it works the same as ddwrt but the way i useto do this with ddwrt was to disable WAN Settings then disable dhcp then plug the internet cable into lan 1 instead of wan port, this disables routing on 2nd router, so the first router handles all routing/dhcp/nat/ip addresses . i believe this is called half bridge mode

Shibby - do you have any plan to release a new build soon? I wanna update all my devices to the latest build from you to keep them updated (some of them use builds older than 18 months). Thank you, see ya!

Love to see a release of tomato that uses both cpu cores in the R7000 (for example). Relying on only one core limits what this great piece of hardware can do. Anyways, hope springs eternal *smile*!

    Hey,
    I've found a Linksys E1000 v2.1 and I'm starting to play with...
    But like this guy :
    http://tomatousb.org/forum/t-364842/shibby-builds#post-2434390
the https web interface is not working.

Only tried with v131 and v132.
Using the only 1 firmware available for this router :
    tomato-E1000v2-v21-NVRAM32K-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-132-Mini.bin
    (MiniIPv6 .bin is to big.........)

Edit: a quick ssh command "netstat -l" reports (I've tried https port on 8000, but nothing appears here):

    [RELEASE] v133 with MutliWAN feature

REMEMBER #1: you have to erase nvram after install this version and configure you router once again
REMEMBER #2: you CAN`T restore setting from backup file!! You have to configure all manually
REMEMBER #3: Routers with nvram = 64k have enabled multiwan feature (max 4 wans). Routers with nvram < 64 has limitation to 2 wans.
REMEMBER #4: there is a few feature which works correctly with 1WAN but wont works when we enable 2 wans or more (bw limiter, qos, bw monitor, iptraffic). Still trying to fix them.

    Read this post first: http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?threads/tomato-multiwan.71978/#post-269832
    Read changelog: http://tomato.groov.pl/?page_id=78

    Enjoy :)

Me. I compile stuff myself, and fixes were pushed upstream few months ago. I can also confirm that 20160113 is the latest version that's gonna work with Tomato without modifications to its firewall rules. Anything newer than that will get errors like these:

If you got the unit, willing to compile Tomato for your own router a dozen of times, and time to spare, you can contribute to get LED's for your router model fixed. Please read how I did:

Just need to add a new chain for it. Miniupnpd adds NAT rules to that new chain, but Tomato/Asuswrt already NATs everything so they aren't needed.

    @shibby: i flashed v.133 RT-AC68U-vpn and it went beautifully from v132.
i am only using a single WAN interface.contrary to advice: i did not reset nvram, becasue of extensive static leases and port forards, and all parameters appear to be ok with the exception of the wan-check interval at 1 minute (instead of default to 2 min) which i set to disable anyway. vlan mappings were checked and good.
router is performing well with QOS, IP and BW monitoring.
no errors in dmesg after 3 hours up. i will follow up with any other results.
thank you for another good build.!!

Bug report for v133 on R7000

    Flashed and cleared NVRAM.

IPv6 is fully operational with IPv6 set to disabled.

The zoom button on QOS graphs does not work, It gives strange outputs.

Other than those two things so far this is a fantastic release. Very fast.

The field "dnscrypt_log" is invalid. Please report this problem.

Your ipv6 is working because your device is getting RA's from the ISP router through tomato, nothing in tomatos firewall is blocking the ra's so the router does not need ipv6 enabled to work

  76. Connor McCaffrey

    Connor McCaffrey Networkin' Nut Member

Your tomato router will not be able to ping ipv6.google.com

But your pc with ipv6 will...

    This is strange.

If I go back two version (131) IPv6 is not functioning on any computer unless I have it enabled on the router.

Here is a question. How does this affect QOS? is IPv6 effectively controlled with it turned off on the router?? Does QOS even affect IPv6 traffic?

    Hey guys.

Getting a bit of a problem here since going to 1.33 using openvpn

I have reset the nvram and reconfigured my openvpn client from scratch with exactly the same settings as before but now it will not work.

If i select "Redirect Internet Traffic" everything works great and goes through the VPN.

However, if i unselect that and tick Ignore Gateway redirect (route-nopull) and then specify to Redirect through VPN a certain "From Source IP" etc 192.168.1.3 then this ip still goes through the WAN and not tun11.

If i go to speedtest.net the laptop on 192.169.1.3 shows the IP of the wan and not the tun11.

If i then tick redirect internet traffic then speedtest.net shows the tun11 ip but obviously that is redirecting all internet traffic from everything and not just 192.168.1.3

Any ideas? All worked fine on 1.32

If it helps this is the log with route-nopull enabled

But what about Asus-N66U builds? Was the same kernel panic bug present on ARM before as well?

Is there a temporary fix for dnscrypt I could try?

just enter the dnscrypt settings and save, and don't forget the loglevel. they won't show up when you refresh the page, but they are applied anyway until the next reboot. remember to re-enter them when you change anything else on the page.
if this is not acceptable you might try to add a similar line in the wanup script:
    sleep xx
    /usr/sbin/dnscrypt-proxy -d -a 127.0.0.1:40 -m 5 -R yyyyy -L /etc/dnscrypt-resolvers.csv
replace xx with a number of seconds, and yyyyy with the dnscrypt provider of your choice, fi cisco.

In ARM build a kernel module "mark" has been broken. All features uses this module (bw limiter, openvpn redirect traffic and maybe something else). It will be fixed soon.

    Yes, thank you.

For multi-wan feature - you should set in Basic -> Network -> MultiWan - "Check connection every:" to DISABLED by default. (because only 1WAN is enabled by default).

Everything else works fine so far, thank you!

Hopefully you can fix LEDs for AC68U too, since they have been fixed for R7000.

Just so you know somebody coded that and it was given to Shibby to incorporate. So if you guys can provide it, then I'm sure Shibby will incorporate. Short version as they say in other Projects: "Code is welcome!" or "Thanks for volunteering!"

I have a feeling (for example) that the non-working bwmonitor etc etc are higher priority for Shibby himself though.

For R7000, AndreDVJ did some work, and "Sabai" did some work to get it all together:

Probably you are aware of it Shibby, but there was a recent security bug in OpenSSL which needs patching (called DROWN). Just wanted to give you a heads up in case :)

Thanks for all your hard work!!

    Cheers,

    Paul :)

I have RT-N12C1 with 132v. How can I do so that if L2TP disconected router not tried get IP over DHCP, and simply reconnect L2TP?

I upgraded my R7000 FW to v133. Cleared NVRAM.
I am not sure if there is an issue: Under port forwarding page, I have a subset of rules I used to have on V132. 6 total. Now, I see "iptables-restore: line 71 failed" displayed in a yellow box on "Port Forwarding" page, under the notes right below the last note "Int Address - The destination address inside the LAN."
I never saw anything like that before on earlier versions. Logs do not show anything.
    Is this an issue?

    Edit1:
I just realized the same error shows up under "Access Restriction Overview" page as well.

    Edit2: Errors cleared somehow!
