In QOS Bandwidth Distribution (Outbound and Inbound), values are only shown as 0.00. I think, this is since multiwan, maybe. Now, I use 140 MIPS2 usbminivpn on WNR3500v1. Is there a solution?

I need your help in solving - How to organize PPPoE Relay in the firmware of TomatoUSB? For example for LAN 4.

First time poster here... Thanks Shibby for this awesome update. Just flashed it!

Can someone please point me to a comprehensive guide for the VPN routing policy on tomato? I want to create an openvpn client that routes the VPN connection to a second subnet of IPs while allowing those on the 1st subnet to route traffic through the regular ISP internet. Also, would like for the VPN subnet to have a kill switch.

Can someone please help? Thanks in advance.

Anybody on shibby 1.40 that is using eibgrad's basic script by chance? I'd like confirmation before flashing from 1.32 to 1.40, if possible. Thanks all!

I'm on Shibby 1.32 and have found the poor 2.4Ghz radio really rough since we moved to a larger house recently. Does 1.38 or 1.40 have updated wi-fi drivers that work any better than the Broadcom Wireless Driver 6.37.14.86 (r456083) I'm seeing on the about page of my 1.32 Tomato?

Thanks, and thank you, Shibby for all the hard work!

Have someone tested this 1.40 AIO or VPN on RT-N16 and how it goes?
I have to update one of mine but haven't time to problem solving now.
    Thanks.

I've just flashed (for the first time) an Asus RT-AC3200 to Shibby's 140 K26ARM USB AIO-64K build.
If I try and change the 'Country / Region' in the Advanced/Wireless setting with a hope to use the different frequencies my home country will allow, back at the wifi config it won't allow me to change or show the frequencies on the 5Ghz radios, only the 2.4Ghz.
Don't know if this is a known issue or not?

To follow up on this: I decided to revert back to stock FW to give it a try again in the new house and holy smokes the wi-fi is soooo much better. Specifically, the 2.4Ghz radio is giving me downstream speeds roughly twice as fast as Tomato when in close-to-medium proximity to the router. And the both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz spectrum have better reach, to the point I almost don't need to use my second wireless AP in the back of the house.

That said, I'd forgotten that stock Netgear firmware has no local DNS server, so LAN hostname resolution is non-existent. Not a deal-breaker, but annoying. Secondly, it only has provisions for two or three different DDNS providers, and can only be configured for one at a time (I've configured my secondary wireless AP running Tomato to update other DDNS providers). Lastly, the QOS implementation is clunky, but it does do its job if you've got a relatively straightforward setup. Oh, and the companion iOS app to manage the router has come a long way and is actually a decent little tool for quickly turning on the guest wi-fi SSID, rebooting the router, or blocking or pausing internet for a specific device on the LAN.

For whatever that all is worth :p

For what it's worth, I find on my R8000 that WiFi with Tomato has only slightly less reach than OEM firmware. I started using Tomato at Shibby v136 and have never looked back. The Netgear Genie QOS was useless on ADSL1 speed (upload a mere 0.3 Mbps) and Tomato QOS saved my household from a revolt by making the internet usable again. I am currently on Shibby v140 and I have Wireless region set to AUSTRALIA and Transmit power set to 0 mW (hardware default) in Advanced Wireless settings. I also find there is better reach throughout the house if I place the router antennas vertical (not at an angle like you see in the pictures). Tomato wireless driver version is 7.14.43.40 (r527781). Fortunately I have progressed from ADSL1 and now enjoy 70/30 Mbps speeds.

I flashed back Genie on my R8000 to test stuff on telnet. It's a major PITA to get Genie back, but it's doable.

    Code:
    # wl ver
    7.14 RC43.5
    wl0: Dec 12 2016 15:25:02 version 7.10.274.3.REBASE.R493518 (r674436) FWID 01-efffebb5
I think of trying to flash that driver just for the laughs, but I don't have a torx security screwdriver to tear it apart and recover from a brick.

I've been digging Genie stuff for the last week, but there isn't much hope on having everything 100% supported on that unit. There's few things pending to try and see how it goes, but 5Ghz high LED don't work as intended with led binary and WAN LED doesn't work at all.

I don't have the slightest idea yet how to support them with the existing code. 5Ghz high shouldn't be impossible yet Genie won't give me a bone on how it's implemented, and WAN LED is unlikely to be supported because gpio binary can't do anything.

On the small tamper resistant torxes screws the center pin will break out with ease. Simply use a small flat head screw driver wedging one edge of it in one of the star points of the torx head acting as a pivot point and the other against the center pin, give a twist with a bit of upward motion and poof.. you have a normal torxe head.

Can we please have a fix for those super nice tables/graphs in QoS?
They really help us understand with one look what is happening with our QoS.
I think it has been reported numerous times, but I couldn't find a fix?

I'm on v140 (R7000) and Crawl class does not show any Bandwidth Distribution (Inbound or Outbound). It looks like the bandwidth distribution for the Crawl class is counted under the P2P/Bulk class (which is my default), but I'm not 100% sure. Bandwidth Distribution figures of Crawl class are always 0 (and of course nothing appears for Crawl class in the graphs).

I do however have several connections under the crawl class and their number is properly shown in the Connections Distribution table as well as in the corresponding graph.
As it looks, my classification rules work perfectly fine and by watching the details page of the Crawl class, it has connections constantly consuming bandwidth (I have classified bittorrent there using my incoming torrent port).

    Best regards

Yesterday I tried to upgrade vfrom v132_VPN to v140_miniVPN on a Netgear WNR3500L.
    I am using a 4G Stick Huawei E398 with qmi_wwan.

The stick seems to has some issues at startup and sometimes the connection just works the second time when the watchdog tries to establish the connection again. With v140 this did not work anymore, the watchdog could not establish a connection for more than 5 minutes.

This is a log from v132_VPN, from v140_miniVPN unfortuneatly I do not have a log anymore:

    Hello @shibby20 ,
Would it be hard to make transmission use another IP than the gateway IP or maybe a checkbox to make it use TUN11 (VPN client1)?
If one use VPN client with Ignore Redirect Gateway (route-nopull) enabled, transmission will not use TUN11 (VPN Client1) but will go with normal WAN.
And I want my normal computers to use normal WAN and not vpn.

I'm thinking of maybe using below script that I found, but it would probably be an useful feature in the firmware
    1. Go to ADMINISTRATION / COMMANDS / COMMAND SHELL. Enter the following commands whilst substituting the IP's you wish to bypass the VPN (each IP separated by a space character):
      nvram set no_vpn_lst="192.168.1.5 192.168.1.6 192.168.1.7"
      nvram commit

    2. Copy the script from below into the COMMAND SHELL and click on Save Custom Script
      #!/bin/sh
      sleep 30
      NO_VPN_LST=`nvram get no_vpn_lst`
      [ -z "$NO_VPN_LST" ] && exit 0
      WAN_GWAY="0.0.0.0"
      while [ $WAN_GWAY == "0.0.0.0" ]; do
      sleep 3
      WAN_GWAY=`nvram get wan_gateway`
      done
ip route add default via $WAN_GWAY table 10
      for ipa in $NO_VPN_LST; do
ip rule add from $ipa table 10
      done
      ip route flush cache
      exit 0

    3. Reboot. Now the devices with the IP's on your list will be routed outside the OpenVPN tunnel.
    Thank you.

I've searched, but can't find an answer to a probably simple/stupid question, but here goes.

How do I get the IP Traffic and Bandwith monitors to display measurements in MB/s or Mb/s instead of KB/s and Kb/s?

I'd rather it display in terms that match my internet providers claims (Mbps) than have to convert all the time from Kbps.

    Thanks

Hey I've been trying to get QoS to work on multiwan but I've read that QoS only works when using only ONE Wan.

Is there a way that you could allow us to enable QoS only on a certain WAN so that it would still work even if I'm using a setup of multiwan?

The graphs and details are shown unclassified when using two wans and I think having this kind of feature would allow QoS to work on both scenarios.

Thank you! If you are going to release this with this kind of feature I will gladly volunteer to test it out for you. (Well the best thing that I can do)

I am Using the R7000 Router currently with the AsusMerlin-xwrt firmware. its pretty good firmware for me but what i am looking for is the real time bandwith monitering for the connected devices.
Like which connected device is using how much of the internet speed. So that i can limit there bandwith speed. My current firmware does not shows that it only shows that the 2.4Ghz is using this much of internet but dont know which connected device..

I have alsi used dd-wrt for like a day but i have switched back to merlin becouse of the GUI

Does This firmware supports real time bandwitch monitering?

yes it does ... is using ip address , but if you assign ip to device and name it , it will show by the name (any name you assign to a device)

Yeah, CTF won't work with some functions like port forwarding. I remember I read it from somewhere on the internet. ASUS stock firmware uses a modified linux kernel, which will handle port forwarding without CTF. Merlin is a mod of ASUS stock firmware, so the ASUS trick still works.

It's hard to tell. Do you have any other modem or router for swapping parts? So we could find out if the problem is related to the router or the modem.

    And:
    1. Did it work just exactly once, or could you find a way for making it run that few seconds again?
    2. Did you have a look at Tomato's log?

robocfg port # state disabled .. where # is the port number. Replace disabled with enabled to reverse.

Here's a script that you can put in the button section, it will enable/disable the port depending on it's current state. I'm assuming you just need one port disabled sense you stated "i mean the connection going to my PC?". Replace all #'s with the port number you need:

    Code:
    #!/bin/sh
    PORT=$(robocfg showports | grep "Port #")

    if [ "$(echo $PORT | grep enabled)" ]
       then
logger "Disabling port # via button command."
         robocfg port # state disabled
       elif
         [ "$(echo $PORT | grep disabled)" ]
         then
logger "Enabling port # via button command."
           robocfg port # state enabled
       else
logger "Port # state change commanded via button press - unknown error encountered."
    fi
    exit 0

Does the system log show anything? Script works on my end. Make sure there's no odd spacing.. copy/paste from a browser can often shift lines an screw stuff up. And make sure you replaced all the #'s.. 6 in total. Be aware the link lights and NIC cards will still show a connection, the port is not powered down.. but no data will pass in or out from that port.. so verify if it's working or not by trying to access something from your PC.. not by looking at the link lights or connection status.

you mean in my PC the lan shows connected but no internet? or like when we plug the cable out like no lan connected?

and there no no space in lines just 2 before the if statement starts"if [ "$(echo $PORT | grep enabled)" ]" before that 2 spaces of line as shown in the code you posted

I'm not sure how long it will take to update or how reliable Windows connection status ( no internet or no lan ) indicator will be. Just press the button, look in your system log from the routers GUI Status->Logs->Last 100 lines .. the last line should say port 2 has been disabled.. If it says port 2 has been enabled press the button again. Then from your PC try to access anything.. the internet.. or your routers GUI.. the port should effectively be cut off from the network.

Which LED indicator? I don't have your model of router, but it should be possible to toggle an LED on/off. Just thought to mention, be aware that if you disable the port for extended period of time and then enable the port you may have to do "ipconfig /renew" on your PC unless you have set up static IP's. If the DHCP lease expires for your PC while the port is disabled Windows may not automatically request another one when the port is re-enabled if the network connection indicator isn't smart enough to realize the change of connectivity.

Are you sure it's a R7000? Keeping this post short, I see these messages logged on my R8000, not on my R7000...

Re: Temporarily overriding wifi specific access restrictions using physical wifi on/off button.

    Hi,

Appologies if this has already been answered somewhere or if I shouldve posted this somewhere else...

I have an Asus RT-AC68U on which I would like to run a wifi schedule eg:
-turn all wifi off at midnight,
-turn all wifi on at 8am
(I'm one of those tinfoil hat wearers paranoid about emf exposure and I want to minimise it by turning wifi off when it's not needed but still keep the wired lan connection to my pc enabled for downloads etc. I want the on and off to be automated for the most part).
Sometimes I will want to override the schedule temporarily using the physical button on the side of the router (which is by design out of the factory, a dedicated wifi on/off toggle), ie turn wifi on when it's scheduled to be off, or turn wifi off when it's scheduled to be on.

I can perform all of the above using the stock asus firmware, only catch is when you press the physical wifi on/off button, in addition to toggling the wifi on or off it also disables the wifi schedule, requiring reactivation through the GUI. I want the schedule to stay enabled, so that, for example:
-If I've overridden the schedule by turning wifi on early at 4am using the physical button, it will still turn off automatically at midnight that night.
-If I've overridden the schedule by turning wifi off early at 10pm using the physical button, it will still turn on automatically at 8am the next morning.

I see that tomato can perform wifi scheduling through access restrictions. Not sure if it retains the general functionality of the dedicated physical wifi on/off button, or if the button would cancel the schedule I set up. Is there a version of tomato for my router which supports what I want? Note, it's important that the manual wifi on/off override be via the physical button, not some other interface on the pc or similar, as my tech unsavvy and inpatient wife will be doing the overriding a lot of the time, and it needs to be simple and quick.

Also, if there is more than one version of tomato which will do what I want, any recommendations on the best one for my router? Something simple to use, stable and bug free, with good functionality (I am leaning towards Advanced Tomato so far...)

    Cheers

i have used scheduled wifi with tomato successfully in the past. you can assign custom commands to the wifi/wps button, so turning on/off manually is no problem as well.

Ok cool. And does the schedule remain enabled after a manual (physical button) switching event? Also just confirming, did you set up the schedule using the "access restrictions"?

Last question, what model of router were you using and which firmware version/revision?

I don't have this experience but the Access Restrictions rules do remain active and this is a problem. AFAIK Tomato checks the Access Restrictions rules every 15 minutes and activates the ones that match the rules and deactivates the ones that do not match the rules, in other words if you have assigned the WPS button to switch the radios on but you are in between 12:00 am and 8:00 am it will switch them off 15 min later max.

You can however accomplish what you want using the "Scheduler" session of Tomato to switch the radios off and on at the times you want and assign a command to the WPS button to switch the radio on/off.

The commands you can use are:
radio off 0 turns off 2.4GHz radio
radio off 1 turns off 5GHz radio

radio on 0 turns off 2.4GHz radio
radio on 1 turns off 5GHz radio

radio toggle 0 "As the name implies" 2.4GHz radio
radio toggle 1 "As the name implies" 5GHz radio

Ok thanks, I'll use the scheduler. Out of the box the RT-AC68U has one physical button which does wifi on/off, and a separate one that does wps. So I take it, both of these buttons will not function initially after tomato is flashed, then I'll need to assign separate commands to each of them using the appropriate part of the GUI? I'm assuming the version of tomato that has been written for my router will allow me to configure both buttons? Sorry I'm asking questions about such basic stuff, I haven't actually installed tomato yet, wanted to confirm it will give me what I need before I go to the trouble of doing so. Also, I'm not tech genius...

    Thanks for your patience.

    Only the WPS button.

  86. Movin1

    Movin1 New Member Member

    Ok, so:
After I flash tomato initially both buttons will stop working.
I will then be able to asign "wifi on/off" function to the button that was "wps" prior to flash.
However I won't be able to configure the button that was "wifi on/off" prior to flash and it will remain non functional.

    Do I have that right?

and please tell me how to setup this connection

Why strange? It's a matter of whether the program supports multithreaded data downolad or not.

Advanced / vlan add vlan 3, enter vid 3, do not assign anything, in the bridge column set wan2

Then Basic / network and set the appropriate type of connection dhcp / lte etc of wan2

I got all excited having been informed it is possible to run wifi schedules on tomato and temporarily overide them from time to time using an appropriately configured physical button without having the schedule disable everytime the physical button is used. Thanks "Ruggerof"

Unfortunately, I have since found out that my router RT-AC68U (hardware version-C1) is not supported on Tomato. Apparently hardware revision C1 introduced a new cpu which means no longer supported...
Does anybody happen to know how far off a version of Tomato which supports hardware version-C1 might be?

Alternatively, if that is unlikely to happen in the near future, can anybody adivise on he best alrernative 3rd party firmware which supports my router and meets my requirements re wifi scheduling supplemented by manual toggling? Apparently there is a version of DD-WRT and a version of Merlin, which work on my router, but I'm not clear on whether or not they meet my wifi scheduling requirements.

can we get an update for latest dropbear security patch?
    https://matt.ucc.asn.au/dropbear/CHANGES

    - Security: Fix double-free in server TCP listener cleanup
A double-free in the server could be triggered by an authenticated user if
dropbear is running with -a (Allow connections to forwarded ports from any host)
This could potentially allow arbitrary code execution as root by an authenticated user.
Affects versions 2013.56 to 2016.74. Thanks to Mark Shepard for reporting the crash.
    CVE-2017-9078 https://secure.ucc.asn.au/hg/dropbear/rev/c8114a48837c

    - Security: Fix information disclosure with ~/.ssh/authorized_keys symlink.
Dropbear parsed authorized_keys as root, even if it were a symlink. The fix
is to switch to user permissions when opening authorized_keys

A user could symlink their ~/.ssh/authorized_keys to a root-owned file they
couldn't normally read. If they managed to get that file to contain valid
authorized_keys with command= options it might be possible to read other
    contents of that file.
This information disclosure is to an already authenticated user.
Thanks to Jann Horn of Google Project Zero for reporting this.

I have just installed tomato by shibby version 140, and I didn't see dnscrypt menu, then i decided to downgrade to 138, dnscrypt menu isn't there too. I previously run k24 v124. I have been using it for sometime with dnscrypt. My router is ASUS WL520GU. Any idea? Thanks.

Yes it's supposed to be there right? It's there in v124. But It's not in later version. I tried v132, 138, 140. This is why i asked. Perhaps the menu has been move somewhere else. I use the mini package.
