    Hi Shibby,

    Do all the 085 builds include 3G modules including that updated one you made for my modem the ZTE MF192?

    Did the UPS module make it into any of the builds?

    I'm talking about the E3000 builds with 60K NVRAM specifically...

    Thanks...

    ups is not included. Support for ZTE MF192 is included but 3G support function is broken! Usb_modeswitch wont work. I`m trying fix this.

    Hi Shibby, great build. What version of samba do you pre-package? I was wondering if you could include the latest samba36? If not, and I were to install samba36 from optware could I still use your GUI? Or can the pre-packaged one be removed so that it does not conflict with samba36? I'd almost prefer just to set it up in command line. Thanks!

    FYI: Samba 3.6 adds support for SMB2 (not to be confused with Samba 2.0; as SMB2 is the latest version of the actual protocol introduced in Windows Vista and 7). It has significant speed improvements over SMB1.

    The NTFS-3g included is Version 2011.4.12 while there is STABLE Version 2012.1.15, Could this be upgraded too?

    Thanks for all your work to make this a great FW!

    Hi Shibby,

    I was going through the options on the new release and noticed the TCP Vegas option from Victek's RAF builds is gone... I'm not sure how long it's been gone from your builds, or even if it was ever there but back when I used to use Victek's builds, it was on the QoS page. Any chance of adding that back in?

    Hi Shibby, with the E4200V1, does the normal K26 version support the 5Ghz band?

    Or do I have to the K26RT-N version? If it has to be the K26RT-N version, would you be compiling V85 for K26RT-N any time soon for the E4200V1?

    Thanks much in advance!

    1) Only RT-N builds have 5Ghz for E4200v1. Last one is 083V: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomato_(firmware)#Feature_comparison

    2) 085V for E4200v1: http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.ph...client-beta-testing.33858/page-28#post-179550 + http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.ph...client-beta-testing.33858/page-28#post-179591

    I've used it for two months, personally and businesses, it's ultra stable.

    I've switched (back) to RAF 9010 since there is a brand new update with Guest SSID and few more features that I need right now. Shibby has BitTorrent, SD/SDHC, 3G USB Modem, NFS Server more than others but I don't need/care about these features.

    Hi everyone,
    I'm using tomato-K26USB-1.28.RT5x-MIPSR2-085V-AIO on a Asus RT-N16 and I noticed that every 2 days I have no acces to my router using WEB browser and putty, and the HDD atached is stop working. I'm not talking about spin down when idle feature, I'm talking about something like shutdown. Does anybody have this kind of issue?

    Hello shibby and everyone-

    I read in this thread about a USB speed increase, http://www.linksysinfo.org/index.php?threads/usb-speed-up.36731/, and that it might be added to your build?

    Are you really going to add it to your build? Is it already in 085V?

    I am interested in trying your build with BT installed and thought I might wait until the USB speed increase code was added, if you think it might be soon.

    Thanks :)

    no yet, will be in next release

    but this solution will speed up your USB only if USB drive is detected as USB1.1. If your HDD is detected with Spd=480 then you have already USB2.0 and this trick will not speed up this devices.

    Question for Shibby, have you considered using rTorrent for the BT interface? Servers and seedboxes seem to use that rather than Transmission.

    Just stumbled on this youtube video introducing the GUI of our favourite router firmware running on RT-N66U. So, who here made this video? How's the N66U firmware compared to shibby's? Any major missing functions?

    You're "preaching to the choir" here, shibby :)

    I was just curious as to how N66U factory firmware was compared to yours tomatoUSB version.
    Guess I will have to buy a N66U to find out ;-) That's good enough a reason for me!

    It still amazes me - after going from WRT54G >WL-500W>E3000>WRT610N(spare) - that I have no clue regarding factory router GUIs. I have never bothered (or needed) to learn any of them :)

    I'm using MIPSR1-087V K26 MiniIPv6 on a WRT54GL ... on the portforwarding basic and Access Restriction Overview page a yellow error is displayed: "iptables-restore: line 36 failed"

    There is also an error message in the log:
    unknown user.err kernel: ipt_account [checkentry]: table found, rule network/netmask/shortlisting not match table network/netmask/shortlisting.

    EDIT: the error seems to go away on first reboot after making the initial settings

    i ask u a question: why i lose anytime my settings from ''scheduled time'' from ''alternative speed limits'' after a router reboot or wan reset? after those things the scheduled time become ''false''.
    im on linksys E4200 with firmware ''tomato-E4200USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-085V-BT-VPN''

  55. shibby20

    because config file of transmission is generating everytime when before transmsision will start. You have to define alternative speed using "custon configuration" area.

    look here:

    You have to use the following Tomato admin page to make these settings permanent after a reboot:
    USB and NAS -> Bittorrent Client -> Transmission Custom Configuration
    As Shibby mentioned before you'll find the deatailed settings here: LINK

    Just a simple example from my router:
    "alt-speed-enabled": true,
    "alt-speed-up" : 0,
    "alt-speed-down" : 0,

    "alt-speed-time-enabled": true,
    "alt-speed-time-begin" : 1320,
    "alt-speed-time-end" : 375,
    "alt-speed-time-day" : 127,

    The above settings means that the alternative speed will be enabled by default at 0/0kbyte/sec on every day from 22:00 to 6:15 (I use this configuration to switch off all torrent traffic at every night, and also my USB hard disk will go to standby with the spindown feature with this setup.

    Hi M_ars, for now a k26 v88 with openvpn, ipv6 and the other stuff (not yet pptp and multissid) you can find here
    Since i have a wrt160n v3 with 4mb and the miniipv6-vpn was big for it, shibby made this version.
    I also on past posts asked if he could maintain this "testing" mini version up-to-date together with the standard k26 versions.

    Which router(s) with 8MB flash can actually use the Mega-VPN build at 7.9MB? That leaves 200KB for the CFE (128K?)+NVRAM (32K) only, perhaps we should look into either striping it back down or lose it vs the AIO for 8MB+ routers

    My WNR3500L can only take a max 7488KB (Netgear have even less space available lol)

  85. shibby20

    shibby20 Network Guru Member

    Mega-VPN is too big for routers with 8MB flash. Look into builds.png file and you will see this note.
    On WNR3500L you can use max Mega build.
    @M_ars. IPv6 + VPN is too much for 4MB routers and you want also pptp and multissid ;) Impossible :/
    I made special build with IPv6 and VPN for 4MB`s routers as @antony said but i will never do this again. I have to remove ALL i can from this build include even themes. If you cant pptp and more, you have to sell this router and buy new will 8MB flash or more.

    Quick question about NVRAM.

    I just installed 88V-AIO on RT-N66U and I am left with 7.5Kb of NVRAM. Is this the normal amount of free RAM left for an AIO install on 32KB NVRAM? After configuring, I get down to zero freee NVRAM.

    Hi guys,

    I don't know if anyone can help me out. I'm trying to enable logging on my USB drive. I just want Tomato to log its stuff on a flat file instead of the ROM and then gets deleted on restart. I enabled Log Internally into the Logging options and then check the Custom Log File Path with the following path /tmp/mnt/Media/Syslog/. The folder Syslog is 777, but no log file is created even after restarting Tomato. Can anyone advise ?

    I'd like to investigate logs when my router restarts on its own...but it's not very useful when logged get cleared on restart ;) Thanks !

    edit:I'm using 88V-AIO on RT-N16

    I thought I just had to give it the folder and it would generate the log file. Oh well. Thanks shibby ! I can now troubleshoot properly my router now :)

    Hi all-

    Trying to setup BT client in 088, when I click to open Transmission GUI (in Firefox) i get 'Unable to Connect'... What might be wrong?

    Thank you!

    I have it set to /tmp/mnt/TOSHIBA_EXT/bt...

    Found out if I turn off Win 7 firewall it works. But what do I need to allow in/through the firewall to have it work without turning the whole thing off?

    Also, Firefox hangs or something when I close the Transmission GUI. I can't access Web without killing the Firefox process in Windows Task Manager and restarting Firefox.

    Thanks again!

    @Shibby
    Thanks for new builds !

    I disvcovered problem on Qos => View details.
    When you mark "Auto resolve addresses" then Source display " Host name", should be LAN-ip and HOST name.
    (name.opendns.mine.nu (192.168.2.113))
    When you umark then you get right source displayed. That is working in Toastmans builds.

    Q= Can some of your buils RT-N be used with RT-N16 router?

    yes, for RT-N66U will also work on RT-N16. But IMO RT branch is better for RT-N16. I prefer new Rt-N builds only for new routers.

    I just installed your firmware (used TomatoUSB before) because I wanted to get torrents running without too much hassle (at least for now) on the router and I wanted to use a firmware that's still being updated. Works great so far!

    The only thing I would like to ask is if you could update the NTFS-3G drivers for the next version? They have not been updated since Build 51 (10/06/2010) of TomatoUSB and there have been three major updates of NTFS-3G since then. I have checked the changelogs but found no entry of updated NTFS-3G drivers.

    Thanks!

    hello.
    after every reboot i lost any connection with BT transmission[on optware], and every time i should to instal optware and transmission via putty. what can i do to make it working even after a reboot.
    and, another issue: i have an hdd usb connected to the router[E4200] ext3 format; on it i have a few bluray movies and i wanted to watch them, but the motion was stuttering[cpu staying on 100%].so, after changing ntfs to ext3 the transfer speed got three times better, but the films i couldnt watch them like before when the hdd was ntfs. i dont know why; although i thought it was about the better speed that has requested 100% from cpu. so i decided to overclock the cpu; first to 500[already the films didnt stutter], and second to 533. by now it seems very stable: the speed transfer on samba increased. i havent noticed more heating from my router than before. it seems, i was lucky about overclocking[in this case we could say ''is not'' because the 533 had to be the speed of this cpu]. before E4200 i owned linksys wrtgl54 and it was running about 2 years cpu at 250 mhz,
    i ve forgotten to say: i havent ever used wireless by now, all time it is wired
    thanks!

    Hi Shibby, am currently using 087V Big-VPN on my E3000 and want to upgrade to 088. I was looking at the builds and figured the Mega-VPN one suits me more, but when I downloaded the file "tomato-E3000USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-MIPSR2-088-Mega-VPN.bin" I noticed that while the file is listed at 7.8mb, somehow it ends up as 8.2mb on disk and when you try to flash it, you get the error "File is too big to fit in MTD".

    EDIT: Sorry I just noticed a similar post above on the same subject. I'll keep using Big-VPN then. Though it would be nice to have UPS Monitor in that build.
