Tomato + WRT54G + Zyxel X-550 = WDS?

Will Tomato play nice with other non-tomato routers and allow me to set up WDS? I've got a Zyxel X-550 with v 1.6 firmware along with a WRT54G v2 flashed with 1.17 tomato. I've read through the documentation for both routers on how to setup WDS, but it just doesn't seem to take. Before I write down all the details (I can't actually, I need to see the setup screens to make sure I get it right and I am not at home at the moment), has anyone had success getting a WRT54G running tomato to work correctly using WDS with a router that is *not* running tomato? More importantly, was the other router a Zyxel X-550?? :)

    Thanks...

    Edit:

Just got a bit of info from another forum; I've been told that WDS won't work between vendors.. so I'll need to get another router. Can someone verify this here?

    Thanks!

WDS sometimes works between vendors, but only when the moon is shining on your routers at just the right angle, and don't forget to sacrifice a virgin sheep before configuring the routers.

Update: I've since learned I can set up the WRT54G with tomato in wireless bridge mode which supposedly will allow be to have all devices connected to either the WRT54G or the Zyxel X-550 to be on the same subnet. I've been messing around with the tomato setup, trying to get into bridge mode. I haven't had much luck yet. I'm unable to connect the WRT54G to the zyxel. Is there a setting I need to change on the Zyxel in order for it to bridge to the WRT54G? Again, the Zyxel is the main wireless router connected to the cable modem......

I've attached the setup screen of my WRT54G, which includes the current settings.

    Thanks.

To answer your original question - I had Tomato working with WDS to a WRT mini loaded router
    Does that help?
