I've been around networks a long time. I suspect many of my network problems are coming from Comcast (cable modem) but I'd like to know. I started looking at firmware upgrades primarily since that seems to be the one place where I could get a feel for my network traffic. I've a small home network with a web server and several kids running AIM and probably a bit of P2P. I tend to prefer minimal changes, but...

As stated above I have a WRT54G which I believe is a V1 since it has three lights for each port. I've read a fair amount of these boards but would really appreciate a more experienced voice to push me in the right direction.

My primary requirement is better traffic reporting. Not terribly granular but certainly traffic in and out over time. This should include reporting for each port on the switch and one bucket for wireless traffic. It appears that Sveasoft is the only solution that has a chance at this although I understand there are additional packages available for some. Based on the survey I'm somewhat biased to HyperWRT, DD-WRT or Sveasoft.

I'm not seeking a flame war over which product is best. Please, just a gentle nudge in the right direction so that I can make more research a bit more productive.

    Thanks in Advance

Use DD-WRT and download RFlow. With RFlow you can monitor everything in your network from Routers to Stations and Servers.
    Good Luck
