transferring files from one computer to another possible?

I have a WRT54G that works great: I have it wired to computer A, which is a new computer just installed, with WinXPHome. No data, etc files from old computer B.

It replaced a Win98SE computer (computer B) that is sitting to the side. Here's my question:

Can someone give me a simple newbie step by step routine so I can plug in a RJ45 cord to the router, and transfer data files from Computer B (Win98XE) to Computer A (WinXPHome)? Isn't that possible?

    All suggestions appreciated.

I presume computer B has a network card installed already?

What you need is to setup File and Printer Sharing on B and have A access it and copy files over. File and Printer Sharing is built into Windows.

    See this for an example.
(I suggest for simplicity that you try leaving IP Address assignment on automatic and connect from XP to 98 instead of 98 to XP in the example)

    Thanks for the link!

That looks like exactly what I need. Yes, the Win98SE has a NIC - it was on the router before being replaced.

I am not at that location now, but will be trying it today.

    Thanks again.
