Ok it's my attempt to cross compile latest stable transmission, after some messing around in source code i have a working result (beta test), tested it on ASUS RT-N16 tomato beta05.

ok to use it just copy this thing on the router or anywhere you want (external usb hard drive for example), unpack it, cd to bin folder.
    chmod +x ./*

    then open your browser http://your_router_ip_here:9091

I'm to lazy to write a full guide. use it on your own risk

p.s. compiled againts mips32r2 so might work on some other routers (WNR3500L maybe) testing is needed

simply install optware and install transmission from nslu2 :)

    quick tutorial:
    - mount flashdrive or harddisc partition as /opt
    cd /tmp
    wget http://update.groov.pl/optware-install.sh
    chmod +x optware-install.sh

add this twwo line to init script:
    echo "export PATH=/opt/bin:/opt/sbin:$PATH" > /root/.profile
    echo "unset LD_LIBRARY_PATH" >> /root/.profile

save and reboot router. After reboot run
    ipkg update

and you can now install optware :)

    how install transmission?
    ipkg install transmission

    and done.

Troydm :I installed and run ./start.sh then ...........

    Couldn't read "/mnt/SAMSUNG/Downloads/torrents/.config/transmission-daemon/settings.json": Not a regular file

    file is there............ what's wrong?

strange it shouldn't be ok since file is there, i don't think it's permissions related.

    try running
    cat /mnt/SAMSUNG/Downloads/torrents/.config/transmission-daemon/settings.json

it should print out the file, if not then you have some strange problems
also you might try removing .config directory completly.

it is also strange that transmission is looking for a .config file in that direction.
because inside ./start.sh i provide a --conf-dir param so it should load a config file from package

    for example
you are in directory /mnt/app (your applications directory)

    pwd should print out /mnt/app

you have file transmission.zip ready to be installed (full path /mnt/app/transmission.zip)
    unzip ./transmission.zip
    cd ./transmission/bin

in that case transmission should load the config file from
