Two Wrt54GS's seperate subnet problem

Here's my situation. I have two firewalls setup with two WRT54GS's running F/W: v4.70.8, Hyperwrt 2.1b1 + Thibor14. Router "1" is connected to the a cablemodem and is handeling my unsecure wireless "B" devices and a NSLU2. Router "2" is plug into Router "1" through the wan port and is handeling my wireless WPA/2 "G" workstations and wired workstations. Router "1" is on subnet 192.168.5.X, Router "2" is on subnet 192.168.1.x. Currently I have Router "2" also set as a gateway.

Everything works fine as far as internet access. I can telnet into the NSLU2 which is on a differnt subnet than the workstaions along with using the web interface. I thought everything was fine untill I tried to access the drives on the NSLU2 via windows explorer. No such luck. I tried different configurations but to no avail.

The reason for the two firewalls is that router 1 could be hacked fairly easily since the the "B" network is unsecure for the media players. The overhead from wep isn't secure and is chokes the devices and "B" network so I just use mac filtering to keep other's from easily attaching to my network.

    I have 2 questions.
    1. Is there a work around using these routers?
    2. If Router 2 is taken out out of gateway mode and put into to router mode will I still have firewall security on that router?

    Regards,
    D

you should be able to get to your slug using \\ipaddress instead of \\name which won't work
