My old D-Link DIR-655 with a Ubicom 5000 series chipset had the best built-in QOS of any router I have ever tried. BUT, now that I have 100mbps download speeds and 5mbps upload speed, that ole' router was tapped out... Western Digital has released some new routers based on the 8000 series of chipsets.... they claim -wrt support, but I have yet to find any alternative firmware for these chipsets. Why?

I don't think you'll find support in any 3rd party firmware, I don't think linux supports it.
