I have recently replaced my Cisco E3000 with an ASUS RT-N66U and I am offering the E3000 FREE to someone who will use it as a thank you to Toastman and the Tomato community for releasing and supporting router firmware.

The E3000 is unmodified, in perfect working order and is boxed with its power supply and a single generic Cat5 cable. It is currently flashed with Toastman release 7500.4 STD (non-USB, non-VPN). Although the router has been reset to remove my own personal settings, I have activated DHCP and set dummy SSID and passwords on both the 2.4 and 5.0GHz radios so that the router will work right out of the box. Remember to change them however!

I am prepared to ship this router via Royal Mail First Class post to anywhere in the United Kingdom free of charge. Apologies to those of you in Europe and abroad who might like the router but this is a UK-only offer. Be aware that with Christmas rapidly approaching, delivery may be delayed.

If you would like this router (perhaps to replace the wireless mess on a Virgin Media SuperHub), PM me with your interest. Do not give your real name and postal address at this time - just make your interest known.

I would ask that you only express interest in this router if you are actually going to use it. If all you want to do is flip it on eBay, please be honest and let someone else have it.

As is often done with Freecycle and similar bulletin boards, I will leave this post open for a full day to allow occasional visitors a chance to respond then I will close the thread.

I will be leaving the thread open till Monday morning (UK time) to allow some more time for folks to read this then will be dusting off the ol' trusty 1d6 (or maybe one of the weird many-sided ones if more people PM me) to pick the happy new owner. I will reply to everyone who has expressed interest.

I am strictly analogue when it comes to choosing things from a list. No RNG for me... the first pocket calculator I ever had with a 0-9 RNG seemed to roll 7 far more often than appropriate!

OK folks - I have a couple of interested folks for the E3000. I will reply to both this evening when I am back from this hospital visit.

Thanks for the replies and since I can't edit the original, please now consider the offer closed.

I don't know if I have enough forum posts to be allowed to send PMs yet (or if I am just being dumb and missing the button) but I cannot create a PM to the forum member rs232...

My apologies for not being able to talk privately, rs232, but I am afraid the E3000 is taken. I appreciate your interest however.

    Daniel.
