I have a XP Home machine with a WMP54G network card in it.
I also have a WRT54G router. It is configured without any encryption and with open authentication or any restrictions on MAC address.

I'm unable to connect to the router with the XP home machine. It sees the SSID broadcast but I can't connect to it. I can connect to my neighbours wireless router (an Asus router with also no restrictions or encryption) without any problems.

I also have a laptop with a build-in Dell wlan card which works fine on both wireless networks.

Does anybody have any idea why I can't connect with the desktop to the WRT54G?
Does anybody has a suggestion what I can try?

    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your response but it looks to me that these posts are not related to my problem.

The desktop with XP Home which has the problem is a fairly new one. So it meets the requirements. Actually the network adapter works fine with the Asus router of the neighbour just not with the Linksys router.

But my laptop (with a buildin WLAN card) works fine on both routers.

The routers work on different channels and both have no MAC filtering or encryption at all.
