I am using tebby_bear's Tomato firmware on my Asus WL-520gu with static DHCP setup for my desktop Windows 7 PC. If I set my pc to "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically", I do not have internet access after the PC is re-started. To enable internet access, I have to go in to Control panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections and disable the NIC and re-enable it. Once enable is done, I get internet access.
If I set my PC up for static IP, I have internet access no matter how many time I restart the machine. The only difference I can see from "Network and Sharing Center" is that the NIC is connect to "unidentified network" when I am using DHCP in addition to my own network. For static IP, there is no "unidentified network". I guess I can keep static IP but would like to know what I need to do to isolate this issue.
