Ok... I installed the DD-WRT onto my PC, but after a few days, the internet has been shutting down every day, sometimes more than once a day. How do I uninstall DD-WRT and get it back to the normal Firmware. Also, I tried to reset factory defaults, but when I tried to login, the username and pass I set stopped working, and I can not get in. I can not find that CD that came with my router either, so I can not run the installer. I am using a WRT54GS 1.1...

After reset the password goes back to the default which is "admin"
    no user name.

DD-WRT works with WRT54GS v1.0 by the way Brainslayer has a test unit GS V1.1 ...

    Let me answer you questions:

-> Try to use Keep connected instead of connect on demand, if you use PPPoE (ADSL) enable RP-PPPoE module.
And dont use the Watchdog function...
My experience: Ive set mine to Keep connected, but Sometimes my adsl modem is disconnected so I have to browse 3 different websites(of course youll get cannot find server because its disconnected) and then the router will auto-connect to the internet.

    -> www.linksys.com/download
you can always dload the firmware for you version from the manufacturer

Also, I tried to reset factory defaults, but when I tried to login, the username and pass I set stopped working, and I can not get in.
-> WRONG! you cannot set a username, you have to leave it Blank
    the default password is: admin

I can not find that CD that came with my router either, so I can not run the installer. I am using a WRT54GS 1.1...
-> You dont really need the CD. Unless you want a copy of the manual in pdf format. www.linksys.com

Oh... well... I found the CD... and when trying to install, I get this...
It gets through all of the settings, and it seems to be working until it gets to the final checking internet settings.

I also have never once been able to login using no username but with the password admin.

I have to direct connect to the internet atm... I am in serious need of help, I have no idea what the heck is wrong.

As was mentioned above, the "install" CD is worthless. It really doesn't do anything other than configure the router using bloated software (and for that you are better off logging into the router's GUI). The CD does NOT flash the original Linksys firmware to the router, which is (though you don't realize) what you want to do. You need to download the original firmware from the Linksys web site and follow the flashing directions there.

FWIW, you are doing something wrong because dd-wrt works very well for the most part, with only a few non-critical bugs. Also, you certainly can log in to the router using the "admin" password after resetting to defaults (hold the reset button for > 10 seconds).

Well, I am now able to login... but when I can not connect to the internet. How do I set up the router to the internet and with my computer? It was working fine, but after I installed DD-WRT, everything started going wrong, I did not change anything on the router between the time, so it is not me who is doing anything wrong.

I am aware of that... but when I am connecting through the router, all I can do is go to that page, I can not view sites other than localhost and 192.168.1.1

    ... edit

Just tried again, and still no luck. I will show what happens when I try.

Also, the power light on the router will constantly flash, non stop, I tried to reset it by holding down the button, but it went right back to doing that.

    ... edit again

Screw it, just tried again and this time, I could not even connect to 192.168.1.1 ... I am just going to take this piece of crap and get a new one or something. Have not had it long.

Alright... I guess I won't be taking it back... I called Linksys Technical Support, and the guy on the other end was very helpful, it is working now... thanks for your help guys, didn't help too much, but at least you tried. Also, I was stressed out which I why I called it a "piece of crap" ...

power light flashing = Firmware was NOT uploaded correctly

power light flashing = Firmware was NOT uploaded correctly

When the power light is flashing it means: "Theres an error with the firmware, you need to use tftp and flash me again"

You need to use a cable to update your router firmware
Optional: Set ethernet card "Link duplex" to: 10mb Half Duplex
this can guarantee a 99.9% of flash success.
