I've already flashed my WHR-G54S with Tomato and I'm loving it. The thing that is unclear is how to upgrade to a newer version of Tomato. The zip file comes with multiple .bin files and the wiki says "select any of the .bin files".

So just to be clear, can I really select any of the .bin files to upgrade?

    WR850G.bin WRT54GS.bin WRTSL54GS.bin tomato.trx
    WRT54G.bin WRT54GSv4.bin

    Thanks,
    Brian

Yes, any bin. The original flash method still works as well. That batch file is really nice.

No, you WHR-G54S should use "tomato.trx"
    That's for all Buffalo!

Since he said that he had already installed Tomato, he specifically aksed which bin file to use. If a router has any version of Tomato or DD-WRT, you can flash Tomato into it from the web gui using a Tomato BIN file. TRX files are for the initial Tftp flash. Tftp flash is still very easy to do with or with out Tomato already on the router.

    Oh, Thanks for correcting me....!

Then I have a Question. I have Tomato 1.06 before,
But I already use the v1.07 .TRX file to upgrade thru
the WEB interface, will it have bad effects?
Do I need to do it again by .BIN file.....??

    Thanks....!

I have never tried the .trx file through the web gui, so you are teaching me something new also. Thanks. If the flash works, trx or bin, ( I Use G bin for buffalo) it seems like it should be fine.

I think using the .TRX at Web UI to upgrade is also OK,
& .TRX is more like for Buffalo router.

I do it this way & I don't see any ill effect.
Router upgraded by .TRX & see No Problem
    since v1.07 first released.

Thanks for the tips. Looking forward to the next release and hoping for inclusion of snmpd! Otherwise, it has been rock solid stable for me.

if you already have tomato on your linksys or buffalo router any of the .bin files or the .trx file can be used to upgrade your firmware. it doesn't matter on bit which file you choose. the only time you'd select a model-specific file is for the initial flash from stock firmware.
