    I am at work and I have a WRT54GL with Tomato v1.17 installed on it and I am looking to upgrade to v1.21;
    Do I need to "Restore Default Configuration" before I upgrade the FW or can I simple upgrade via the WebGUI w/out resetting the config?

    and if I do have to reset the config should I:
    1. Reset default router settings (normal)
    or
    2. Erase all data in NVRAM memory (thorough)

    If you are using straight tomato you can upgrade with or without clearing the nvram. If are going to a version that's modded you need to clear it.

    This is from the official FAQ

    If you're upgrading from an older version of Tomato, you don't need to perform a reset. Unless indicated in the release notes, Tomato will automatically upgrade older configurations if necessary.
