    Hi

    I'd check out the guides and try searching for it but im not exactly sure of what I should be searching for.

    Basically I have a usb modem only. I don't want to buy an ethernet modem just yet (can't afford). I've got a WRT54G lying around as well.

    Basically I would like to have my setup us as : the usb modem is plugged into the computer (which remains on at all times). This is connected to adsl broadband. The computer is connected by ethernet to the WRT54G and then a laptop connected to the router wirelessly so that it can use the internet connection as well.

    Could someone please explain what settings I should change on the router to do this as i'm completely confused?

    Thanks

    you will just need to enable internet connection sharing and share the connection to the lan port on the pc and then connect it to 1 of the LAN ports on the router.

    pc ip setup

    ip = 192.168.1.1
    subnet = 255.255.255.0

    laptop setup
    ip = 192.168.1.5
    subnet = 255.255.255.0
    gateway = 192.168.1.1

    dns = 192.168.1.1

    and the router ip as anything in the 192.168.1.x range with the x being the routers ip other than 1 or 5.

    this should work without a problem as i have this setup at the minute using a wireless router.
