Use other archive format for distributing the firmware

As the latest alpha version of DD-WRT is over 20MB when compressed using zip, I have tried compressing the same set of files (extracted from the zip archive) using both WinRAR and 7zip. When compressed using 4MB dictionary size and solid archive, they both exhibit a much smaller compressed size comparing to zip.
    Code:
    -rw-r--r-- 1 raymond raymond 6102036 2005-09-11 16:00 dd-wrt.v23-alpha.7z
    -rwx------ 1 raymond raymond 6051634 2005-09-11 16:16 dd-wrt.v23-alpha.rar
    -rwx------ 1 raymond raymond 21630898 2005-09-10 04:23 dd-wrt.v23-alpha.zip
Do you think that it is a good idea moving to use any of them to archive the firmware for future distribution?

The RAR archive is produced using WinRAR standard interface without recovery record and 7z was produced using the following command:
    Code:
    7z a -t7z -m0=lzma -mfb=255 -md=4m -ms=on ../dd-wrt.v23-alpha.7z *
