Using USB data stick modem as failover to net connection

I'm planning on heading over to my mother's place to switch her over to a voip system so she can save some money instead of paying Bell Canada's ridiculous rates.

My cable internet connection was flaky today (work being done in the 'hood) but I've got a cell phone etc. But it made me think that I really don't want to switch my mother's place over without some sort of failsafe if she needs to make a 911 call.

I'm pretty sure I saw a blog post a few months back where a guy had his tomato router set to failover to a USB pay-as-you-go data stick modem if his cable went down. Some sort of "prefer this route but fail to this one" sort of setting.

Been searching the forums here, but unless I'm really tired, or using the wrong search terms, I can't seem to find anything.

Is this possible in the Tomato firmware or with a mod? Many thanks.

Ah...thanks. The "3G" was the part that was slipping my mind.
